Fantastic result. I have done some using a different method that I hope evoke the dream-time forest. |

bbluesman: "Brooding" and "Cloud Formation" are nice and moody. Somehow I missed them before.
stevebrot: "Not a Pentax shot" but we'll let you away with it... very nice indeed! It might help to start out with excellent scenery, but that is indeed only the start.
Also: Replaced the missing photo on the last page. Sorry about that.

This is sunset on Pentaxium, Saturday 17 April 2010. The view is out over the Atlantic from Kilkee, County Clare. I decide to go for a particular look in the processing, in order to emphasise the formal qualities of the shot. Even though it is not a typical sunset photo, I hope people like it. cone of light (Shot with the Vivitar Series 1 105mm macro.)
EDIT: Does anyone else see the horizon as being off or is that some optical illusion with the water and light?
DOUBLE EDIT: It was off by the smallest fraction. Now fixed.

wllm: Incredible!
Heck, it is a landscape. With a horse. And put me immediately in mind of a recent one of mine. So I've done a mono conversion and here it is: horse in the scrub (mono version) (Shot with the FA 43mm Limited.) |

Thank you! I struggled with the composition but realised a tree slightly off centre might work even if it broke all the rules. I had to find a good angle so it would be flanked by the towers. I wanted to get it right in camera, but it needed some judicious cropping after the fact.

tree at Alhambra
I haven't added much to this thread, though I very much enjoy seeing everyone else's work. So this is one from Spain.

Thanks Javier. For me it is something to do with the shapes of the clouds working with and against the trees. For me it just had to be high-contrast and grainy.

Andalusia landscape 1
Taken out of a moving coach, so it took some work to be usable.
I love the line of the mountains against the sky, especially the one little notch where it looks like a crest is not vertical!
The land is very rough. The only crop for hundreds of kilometres is olive. We saw quite a bit of flooding though it got worse the week after we left.
