I did some tests with Adams raw files (the ISO 6400 ones). Yes, some details are reduced but I also found that the K-1 II actually shows more details in other areas, especially when colour is involved. Or the other way around: The noise of the K-1 obscures some detail which is captured by the K-1 II. However, the raw files of the K-1 II need a little more sharpening to make this visible.
Both have their dis-/advantages and I think it depends on what the individual user prefers. I slightly tend towards the II just because I find the colours more precise and like the overall result.

For Affinity Photo there is a nice tutorial for the case of too much blown out highlights. The user can disable the default applied tone curve for RAW files and get much more of the DR the sensor has to offer. It makes the image look flat at first, but it gives back good data to work with.
That's why I asked what software they used.
When I did my own test with CO, it applied a standard profile because it doesn't support the K-1ii yet.
It applied the „normal“ amount of noise reduction which obviously killed too much detail. Pulling the slider back brought back all the details that I could see on the K-1 file.
