Tiger lily with K-10 and Takumar 55mm f 1.8. This is my Takumar camera because the AF no longer works, and with Takumars that is okay.

Not all Takumars are M42 mount; to my surprise I found this Takumar in K mount.

The old sailing warships in the age of Nelson had a sail maker or two on board to engage in continuing sail making and repair, or at least so say all the swash-buckling sea novels I have been reading lately.

Great. I have the bayonet version of the 135 as well, and it is a respectable lens. Looking forward to seeing your results with it.

You need the original Pentax adapter. The Pentax adapter fits entirely inside the K-mount opening with nothing higher than the mount. Many of the others have a flange that extends outside the camera opening, and that extra flange distance prevents the Takumar lens from focussing to infinity, though you can still use the lens at shorter distances. There may be some non-Pentax adapters that also fit entirely within the camera, but I have never seen an non-Pentax units that fit that way.

I would vote for 120mm lens club, and could post from my Mamiya 645 A 120mm f 4.0 macro, a great lens that I use on K-1 with FOTODIOX M645-K adapter.

Wouldn't work. If we had a good, better, and best you would have to reward a "best" to avoid insulting the forum member, then we would have long exchanges about the meaning of good, better, and best! :>)

Can anyone suggest a good source for front and back caps for Takumar M42 lenses?

I gave this K-10 to my daughter several years ago, and she recently returned it because the AF no longer worked. I am just now becoming reacquainted with it, and enjoying the experience of reunion with my first digital camera! I plan to use it for my Takumars, but try some other lenses as well. I have not totally forgotten its gorgeous color rendering since I have a 645D with that same type of sensor.

They are easy to use once you understand how they work, but the first one I had sure was confusing to me!

Yes, you are perfectly correct. I wrote K-1 when I meant K-10. My K-1 does have live view, which I have not used as much as I should have.

In trying to implement your suggestions, I have come to a road block in that I am unable to locate live view on my copy of the K-10. I am wondering if I have a very early model that was produced without this particular feature, or perhaps you could provide me with a step-by-step set of instruction on how you engage access it on the K-10.

Auto focus has broken on my K-10, so I have turned it into my Takumar platform. Here is the Takumar 50mm f 1.4 with the K-10. I need to practice more with this kit because I missed focus on almost half my shots today.

I always use spot focus for exactly same reasons you cite.

This lens shows some yellowing, but I cannot tell that this is influencing the images I am creating using it on my newly re-acquired K-10.

KIT: Takumar 50mm f 1.4 (6 blades), using on my dedicated Tak platform, a K-10 that I purchased when it first came out, gifted to a friend, and reacquired when the screw drive failed, turning this K-10 into a permanent manual focus camera. That is OK because I have not been able to get AF to work with these Tak lenses anyway, apparently because of design deficiencies. :>) (Just joking guys!)

Yes, and from my reading of German history, many of the Nazi functionaries were of about the same intelligence level and bureaucratic mentality as our airport security folks.
