Thanks everyone. It was quite a trip; I wish my skills with the camera had been up to the task. Out of the first 60 days we had 56 with rain and/or fog which made photography a challenge
Bob, Ray is retired military so we stayed at the base in Great Falls. We were only there long enough to refuel and buy groceries.
Tim, I hope you can make the journey to Alaska. It is a different world and a long way. We put over 20000 miles on the truck and over half of that was towing mileage.
Den, the wooden bridge was a marvel of engineering and completed pretty fast too. I don't envy you your trip in '69 it must have been a real adventure. They are so good at keeping the roads in decent shape now that it isn't too bad.
CC, we met quite a few of your countrymen on the trip. We were amazed at how many made the journey and they all seemed to be having a great time. By the way, the Aussies have to be the friendliest folks on the planet.

A little over 9 months ago, we packed up the old RV and headed to Alaska. It was a long but wonderful journey and now that we are back I get to bore you all with lots of photos. I will do this in small increments so as not to wear out my welcome too soon. I had planned on keeping you all up on our adventures as we went along but that just wasn't feasible at all.
Trust me when I say there is no great art here but merely a record of our adventures (we plan on leaving photos instead of cash to our kids when we finally kick the bucket).

We left home on May 5th and headed to Great Falls, Montana where we planned to cross the border into Canada.

Our first real stop on the way to the Al-Can was here:

Our second was the Royal Tyrell Dinosaur Museum. It was one of those not to be missed places that everyone should should see.

Finally we get to Mile 0 of the Al-Can:

And the gods were smiling:

From today's Al-Can you can see portions of the original road including the Kiskatinaw bridge which is huge and still in use today:

I have bored you enough for today. The stage has been set and I hope the photography improves and that you will ride along with us on our last great journey.
Susan
