I was a little skeptical about the story you were relaying, saying that he could switch back and forth between screw drive and SDM by turning the camera on and off didn't sound right. Glad that got straightened out.

I don't know how it looks in your Mac, but on my PC the rows were named like this, and all you needed to do was change the text in column 03 ONLY for the rows listed. Save, and re-upload to the lens through the camera. I used a K100D.
I believe they only show up with a 3 on the end of the name if you access the ROM editor built into the camera.

The way I did it was to copy the file from the lens, and save two copies of it to my laptop. Open Notepad++, then open one of the .LNS files through there. Complete your editing, then go to File/Save (not "save as") and it will save it back to an .LNS file. Transfer that file back to your SD card. Complete the procedure.

I just wanted to confirm again that this works as advertised. I own a K5 and couldn't figure out debug mode. I bought a K100d off ebay that needs a shutter (got it CHEAP!). Changed to lens file, now it works with screw drive on both cameras. Now to find a shutter for this K100d...
