I love it when one of those "happy accidents" happen -- you intend to photograph one thing but something else happens.
We have bats here at the beach, but you will only see them at dusk and they're so fast your brain only processes it until they're long gone, so good on you for getting these shots.
Maybe a local wildlife group would be interested in viewing these, as I imagine it's a rare occurence to see this.

Wow - Impressive, Schmidlapper! Love the light reflecting off of the Hawk's eye in the 2nd image.

I didn't have any lenses over 200mm before so the 500mm is a great thing to inherit.

Beautiful birds all, guys.
In this club, are mirror lenses frowned upon? Are they not considered "real" lenses? I inherited from a friend who passed on his collection and now I have a Vivitar 500mm zoom with a fixed F stop (f4 I think from memory).
If this isn't the thread to ask, just tell me where to go. :D
