Wow Frank, the detail of that pelican in your second shot is wonderful. You've certainly mastered that A*600.

Beautiful isolation. Doesn't look like the ant has noticed he's being sized up...

Wonderful series! The magnification with the Q7 and 300* is impressive. Love the colour tone and detail in the last 2 shots.

The quality of work on this thread is just outstanding. Great to see some pictures with the K3 coming through. Keep them coming!
These were taken at Intaka (meaning bird in Xhosa) island which is a 16 ha reclaimed wetland in the heart of century city, Cape Town.
All handheld with the K5 and Sigma 400mm APO Tele macro.

Managed to snap a few Bee - I F's today. Took some patience (and numbers) to get these.
Pentax K5 and Sigma 400mm APO Telemacro. No sharpening on these.

Hi All
Long time lurker, first time poster. Love this thread and have slowly worked my way through it - inspired me to buy a long lens. Bought a Sigma 400mm APO Tele macro from a thread member earlier this year. Only now getting out there and loving it. The close focusing ability of this lens really ads an extra dimension to outdoor shooting. Here are a few shots from the weekend.
The European starling was still alive with the Black Sparrowhawk on top of him. His screams for help fell on deaf ears! Unfortunately I missed the shot as he took off – AF started hunting and that was the end of it. Newbie with the long lens showing there. (Sparrowhawk shots quite heavily cropped)
All pics with K5 and Sigma 400mm.
