Interesting comment - I didn't think of fractals but rather crystals (comes from being an organic chemist who's seen a lot of recrystallizations :o).

This summer, drought has clinched it's hot, dry fist around our part of southeast Texas with a vengeance. Here is a shot of a small area of marsh normally under water in the wetlands surrounding the Texas Sea Center. It looks quite bleak, although I notice that the tenacity of life is demonstrated by two or three green shoots that have found a means to survive.
