That's possible. I bought it because it was named "European Lens of the Year" in 2005 I think? And price for a brand new from Cameta Camera of $99 - I though it had to be better than the kit lens and with more reach. So no regrets for me.
Actually, I returned DA 18-250mm back to the store in favor of 28-200 after couple of days of street walking. Sharpness of good faithful XR IF were better in my copy.
Here some of the first shots came out of my k10D in 2006 with 28-200mm

Ok, I'll play :) I have SP 28-75 f2.8 and 28-200mm XR IF (non-DI) version - this was my first lens for Pentax and for "one lens travel" - I love it dearly, and with average to good light, it is a very capable lens imo...
