I just ran a little comparison test because I wanted to check the colour rendition of my old S-M-C Takumar 28mm f/3.5. The closest focal length I have with me is the FA 31mm Limited. We all know that old lenses tend to be low in contrast and have less saturated colours. Well, do they? Seeing the results I decided to turn this into a small comparison challenge. Which lens is A, which is B? Both shots were taken at f/9.5 at 1/180 and identically processed (except a minimal exposure adjustment for the Takumar shot: +0,05 in ACR). However, I cropped the 28mm shot fo the FOV of the 31mm lens. I admit that a different subject and a wider f-stop might bring out the difference more clearly.
