There is one advantage of Pixelshift that is clearly visible even at small sizes: it is practically immune against moiré. Although not an interesting photo, this test shot – a reproduction of a halftone print, taken with the K-1 and the D FA 50mm Macro – shows the difference. Left is with Pixelshift, right without. Needless to say, the resolution is also better with Pixelshift, but this advantage disappears when downsizing.

Something different: a circuit board, taken at 1:1 with the high-resolution lens I’m using to copy 35mm negs and slides (Schneider-Kreuznach Xenon-Zirconia 89mm F2.8 1.0x) at f/4.8. Pixelshift makes a lot of difference under these conditions. The insert in the upper left corner is a detail from the bottom left corner at pixel level if the image is viewed at 100% (1350 pixels wide).
