The P/KA mount/adapter is uncommon on the used market these days, especially ones that are fully functional and tested. This one is good to go!

Good question. Tamron called these things 'Adaptall-2 Custom Mounts'. You are correct -- this is the standard P/KA mount. It has not been modified.

Tamron Adaptall-2 Custom Mount Pentax P/KA
The Adaptall-2 P/KA custom mount provides electrical contacts to allow auto-aperture control of Adaptall-2 lenses from the camera. It's a useful piece of kit, which makes Adaptall lenses easier and more convenient to use.
The item for sale is fully functional and in proper working order electrically and mechanically. It has been tested on my Pentax K-5 II using two different Adaptall-2 lenses (72B 90/2.8 and 09A 35-70/3.5-4.5). It mounts and dismounts easily and positively to the lens and the camera; the aperture settings are registered in the camera displays; and the lens aperture is controlled properly.
User note: The mount should be used in accordance with the instructions published originally by Tamron in various Adaptall-2 Owners Manuals (readily available online). In particular, it must be mounted and dismounted carefully with the lens set to its maximum (widest) aperture, and the mounting tabs need to be aligned and seated in their slots.
In response to a question from a member, it should be noted that Tamron called these items 'Adaptall-2 Custom Mounts'. Some users call them 'adapters'. The item for sale is original, and has not been modified or customized.
The mount is in excellent condition, showing only minor normal wear.
