Aha, for a moment I thought there had been a bit of new construction in one of the back fields. :)
Wonderful gradation in the sky - love those colours.

The DA 15mm Limited serves well as a 'foreground lens' - it takes sharp images of close subjects while including the surroundings.
This image was taken at Fort Anne, Annapolis Royal in Canada's province of Nova Scotia.

Very nice images from the DA 15. I especially like the third one - the horizon at the middle works very well, the colours blend and complement, and the texture in the clouds mimics the sand. Great composition. May I suggest cropping out the small (distracting) element on the right hand side (is it a breakwater?).
Thanks for sharing.

Depends on what you want to be the subject.
To me, the B&W version is balanced overall; the bridge is the main subject. In the colour version, the bright blue tree and the bright lights at the tree are dominant, and I find that the tree contends with the strong reflections of the lights in the water.
Personally, I prefer the B&W version.

Here is a classic situation when the 15mm Ltd came to rescue - my 35mm Ltd was just a bit too narrow, so I swapped in the 15 and there you go. The RAW file was developed in Photo Ninja, and tweaked slightly in Paintshop Photo Pro X3.
This is Almonte, Ontario, through which the other Mississippi River - the Canadian mini version - flows. The power plant supplies almost half of the town's electrical power.

Thought I'd post a picture from another season - the winter in Ottawa is full of 'grey and dull' these days, with only an occasional bright sunny day.

Yes, I totally agree. A while ago I was reading these posts during my work lunch break. Before I could resist, my mind was controlled and I was bidding on E-bay for a DA 15. When I won the bid, I thought "yikes, I'll have some 'splainin to do at home this evening..." One of my better impulse buys!

PS. This was early in my Pentax dSLR days, so I didn't get too many questions as to "what, another lens?" Not sure I could talk my way out of it now.

Dennis,
I really like this one. There is an almost painting-like impression, and the person seems to be staring directly at that sunburst as if it was real. The second sunburst is a bonus. Nicely done, and a great start with your DA 15!

My wife sometimes asks me why I am getting up soooo early on a Saturday morning... I tell her "cuz Mattb gets out there early on cold mornings... I gotta go take some pics too..."
Just kidding Matt. But thanks for your continuous stream of great images. Helps to inspire on those cold, dark Saturday mornings!

Nice shots, Matt. You certainly captured the feeling of a crisp fall morning.
I'm eagerly waiting for our first snowfall - things are brown and dull here after a glorious display of colour during the past several weeks! Our first lasting snow usually arrives mid-late November.

Hee hee, we got another one! Strange, the effect this thread has. One minute you're casually clicking through the posts, admiring images, the next minute you're clicking the "Checkout" button or bidding on a DA 15 Ltd. Then you're 'splaining to your partner/spouse - "Honey, I just did something..."
This little beauty really exerts a mind-controlling power.
I never leave home without my 15.
This is my favourite thread here.

My photo outings today met several periods of rain, a thunderstorm, and a hiding sun. We are still enjoying splashes of colour in the trees, but they are fading. One species of maple is bright red.
I've learned that I'll need to be careful with the DA 15 - the bokeh is somewhat 'interesting' in the second shot.

You are right! I think the temperature was somewhere in the minus 12-15 C range. 'Cold' is a relative sense, isn't it? Many of our forum members are probably thinking "Where's the sand?" "Where's your flower photo?" Haha. Anyways, it was indeed a beautiful morning with a bright clear sky and sun, and the K-5 performed flawlessly in the 'cold.'
Thanks for your compliment. I like you snow pics, also.

You're right - it's getting pretty cold in here! Canada is far from the tropics, so this image of the Ottawa River in summer will have to do until spring comes!

Hi,
First post in this lens club!
The DA 15 is a great lens to take out on cold winter days - it's small, easy to use, rejects flare but has plenty of flair and personality!
Here is a recent photo on a crisp Ottawa morning (one of the many urban trails in our city).
