The drop in polarizer will work with the M*800 too so your options are open!
Thanks!

At the time I bought this lens used, it was selling for $5700 new at B&H. Or was that $6700? I'm out of state and can't check the old B&H catalog...

Thanks for that link Daniel. I'm clearly selling for about 30% to 50% below market. I have never bought nor sold on Ebay so have no history there, though I have had an active PayPal business account since it first started and have sold via this forum quite frequently (more than the feedback shows).
Based on Daniel's post, a forum member could buy this lens, use it to their hearts content and then sell it at a profit on Ebay whenever desired.
So who's first to take it? Another forum member is on a two week until purchase time line right now...perhaps...
I believe I paid $3600 for the lens when I bought it.

Hey Mike,
I'm traveling airport to airport today so won't be very responsive--sorry.
I believe that if you search this thread for my name you'll find a listing for this lens as part of a kit. It may be in the sold listings (tried to list one item of the kit as sold and it popped the whole post into the sold pile). In that thread you'll find a few photos that I posted that show sharpness, contrast, color rendition etc. They are landscape extractions with lots of detail corner to corner. Note that those are scans of originals shot on film.
Hope that helps.

PentaxForums.com Marketplace Listing Item for Sale
M*400 f/4 EDIF Super Telephoto Asking Price
$2100 USD PayPal Invoice Pending Item Location
Montana (United States) Item Description
This is the legendary star lens.
Though this was manufactured for Pentax 67 film cameras, it adapts to 645 and K mount. Works great on DSLR's with inexpensive adapter.
Includes original front soft cap, rear cap and trunk case (trunk case is pretty worn).
This lens shoots fantastic images due to the professional EDIF construction. Color rendering and contrasty images prove the pro quality. Gathers light very well with a 112 mm front element but filter costs are reasonable since it uses 67mm filters in a drop-in drawer. Sliding shade does not detach so you can't drop or tumble the shade down a hillside. Very hefty tripod shoe doubles as a grip for handling and set up.
Cosmetically in good to fair condition with wear on the finish from years of professional work. Operationally perfect and snappy. I have had it since about 2001 in a very dry environment. No mold or other humidity problems.
Price reduced to the point that you can't resist... Are you the original owner of the item being sold?
