Really interesting observation monochrome.
I used an MX for 20 years or more and like yourself found it too small. However, with the winder added it was a perfect fit for me. Over that 20 years I always wanted an LX. We always want what we don't have right.:) I had the chance to pick up a good used LX a few years ago. It was in great shape and felt great. The film advance was pefection itself but for some reason I just couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger. It was probably becuase I shoot so little film these days and it just didn't make any sense as I already have two excellent film cameras in the MX along with a really nice K2.
In any case your obsevation struck a chord with me. Like so many things in life the wanting of a thing is often more important than the actual having. You've set my mind at ease on the LX score. It might have been nice to have one but I'll just put that dream to rest ...... at least for the moment.:)

Fearview,
Phil has all the K series lenses. He's sort of the Yoda in this area.:) A good source for K series information.

I nominate Phil "King of the K series". :) You must has every K lens ever produced by now Phil. Nice to see them in such pristine condition.
Come to think of it there is another forum member, Jim King, who seems to have every lens from every series Pentax ever made. I guess we shall demote Phil to Prince.

Thanks Paul, newpentaxman, SMC, Phil,
I’ve been meaning to try my hand at macro in a more serious way and I think the ring light will help.
No PTL/TTL on digital of course but for guys in this thread that’s not an issue right? :)In any case it should be fun.
SMC do you have some sort of time machine? I’ve bought stuff new that didn’t look that good.

Picked up an old Pentax AF080C ring flash on EBAY last week. Always wanted one of these for my old MX. Here they are united at last on the Auto Bellows M.
Looking forward to see how it works.

Bombel,
Beautiful presentation of what is clearly some well loved old Pentax gear.

Thanks Monochrome,
I was experimenting with the K10 while hand holding my flash off camera. It worked out rather better than normal.:)
I used the DA* 16~50/2.8 for this shot. I'm seriously starting to like this lens as well. For a guy who shot nothing but primes for years this is quite a reversal.

There's a lot of fine old gear in this thread. Speaking of old gear - I picked up this K2
used in the early 1990s. It had a little bassing and a few scuff marks but was
mechanically perfect after I sent it in for a cleaning and adjustment. It still works
great.:)
Attached is my favourite K series lens - the SMC Pentax K 200/2.5.
They make a great combo.

Nice looking camera Phil. I know you were a big time KX fan but a few rolls with this unit will win you over. That ASA ring "problem" is a crock. Every camera I have ever picked up had some issues initially. Familiarity always takes care of them. Have fun buddy.

Here's most of my film stuff. Come to think of it it is most of my lenses for digital as well.
