Does Canada have a heavy levy on imported goods?
Here in Australia we do not need to pay duty for any goods < 1000 dollars. And you can buy as many as you want in a year.

I love the 100 WR, I was amazed at how small it is, I replaced my Tammy 90mm Macro with the WR, the 90 was not a big lens but the WR is even smaller.
A tip, although lens prices tend to be always more in Japan than the USA, the DFA100WR is a bargain in Japan! From kakaku.com, sometimes you can pick the WR up for less than 600.
I bought mine for less than 550!
