I got out to the lake yesterday morning another harsh summer day here at the lake in Central Texas. All shots DA* 300mm DA 1.4 TC handheld. I also had the DA* 60-250 with me but it was having AF issues on the K5IIs unusually I had no keepers Hopefully there is just a problem with the contacts ?

Awesome images ! The Hume Tree Creeper sounds very familiar to our Carolina Wren and is built similar probably from the same family of that species:cool: ---------- Post added 07-31-16 at 05:21 AM ----------

Gentlemen I believe we must have as pete-tarmigan & WPRESTO describe a young Painted Bunting. He just arrived at the feeders again today and I have not seen any others so far this year. I know they are very colorful and hope I will see more of the species, once again thank you for your interest,& time on this off subject for this thread. I love learning and discovering with my light collecting machinery ! Have a great afternoon everyone :)

This in my humble opinion could be a Painted Bunting there is definitely Blue on the head here are a few more shots I got yesterday 7/28 in Central Texas. Hopefully these latest images will help clarify the birds ID, now that I see all the different coloration I am leaning towards a young Painted Bunting ? I am certainly no where near any kind of bird expert and welcome all the help I can get....

This bird is larger than any of the finches I have seen 7.5" is this birds size. I got these shots yesterday I measured the feeder and it is 8" wide so I am going with Summer Tanager. I appreciate the input and interest and thank Y'all very much :)
