Veeeeeeee Raaaaaayyyyy!
It's a design I've been doing for a buried reservoir conversion to residential, a project in the Peak District, UK. Done in SketchUp Pro and rendered with V-Ray Next. Then I thought, why not present your photo work like this? Makes it way interesting to show your photos as they should be. Hanging on a wall.

I've started a thread about this in General Photography. "A different way of presenting your work."

Hard as I try, mine just doesn't. I mean it really does disappoint me time after time.
I think it's partly why I use the old M42's in manual focus so much these days, Jupiters, Helios and CZJ's, Meyer's and wotnot. ---------- Post added 19-03-14 at 05:35 ---------- Right so second question(s) . . . where can I get this thing seen to in the UK?
Is it a matter of realigning the elements and bolting the thing back together?
Has anyone else had these issues and had them resolved by a lens technician?
Because something clearly ain't right with this.

I still get the PF with the 77 but no where near as bad as the 31. This is the 77 wide open, with a lot of post . . .
Now I've never got anywhere near the same performance out of the 31, by a wide margin. I'd go so far as to compare my 31 to my first kit lens (WR 17-55) in many respects. Okay, in some situations I can get the thing to perform, but it's unreasonably tough to do so and most of the work is done in post.

This is what I'm finding. It is possible to drag a decent image out of the 31 wide open, but oh my my is it a lot of aggravation. In mediocre light I find it near impossible.
The thing is, the 77 Ltd is simply golden, it really is and I'm surprised at the really quite stark difference between the 77 and the 31, I'm talking wide open now.
Ferocious toothache "beyond root canal" doesn't help whilst pondering this matter, nor listening to the dogs gob going round and round at the same time which really winds me up.

Okay, yes, but that much?
If others are getting this amount of PF wide open in relatively high contrast situations please let me know.
I'm starting to think . . . two cogs turning now . . .
1. High contrast
2. Wide open
3. At or near infinity
Equals . . . not very good resolution at all and dire PF.
If so, that's just a limitation of the design and I can live with that. A frank discussion about this would be handy.
I also find it hopeless in low light. Could be me. May spend this weekend testing the be'jesus out of the thing and then make a decision.

I will. I need to get to the bottom of this, because I ain't putting up with a duff lens at this price. Thing is I get this for a majority of the 31mm shots and it takes so much to deal with in post.
If this is normal behavior for this lens wide open I'll accept that.
Just interested in other FA31 owners experiences.
(PS: This is not intended to stir trouble. This has been bothering me for a while as it is the most expensive lens I have).

Please end my pain with this 31mm Ltd thing. I just don't understand what is going on here.
This is at f/1.8, ISO 100, 1/6400 sec, handheld K-3 spot focus, no post-processing . . .
crop . . .
How come it's this bad, but under other circumstances can produce this following a lot of post-processing (LR5) . . .
K-5IIs, ISO 80, 1/80 sec, f/1.8 handheld. ---------- Post added 19-03-14 at 04:00 ---------- Do you lot have to post-process the granny out of this thing too?
I need to know, really.

They made me play the recorder when I was five.
Still haven't given up the day job, but I should have honed those skills for when when the day job gives me up. A recorder, a pavement and a upturned hat are the future.

Same here. I think when you get into the big camera thing you start with wanting wide angle and you try and get everything in the shot. Looks awful.
As you age your favorite focal lengths get longer. I went from <17mm as fave, now at 135mm and I have a Jupiter 21M 200/4 on order.
Wide has its place, but for those funky perspective shots and not so much for landscape or much else.

Definitely!!!
Here's my Benro multi-row pano set-up on the Induro CT414 with BHL3 head.
I only use the Siggy 8-16 and the 15/4 Ltd for those weird "perspective" shots.

Of all the lenses I have for the K-series mount (some 15), the only one I couldn't part with is the 77 Limited.
