Tele-Tak 400/5.6 Really a pretty nice old lens, but the handling is a bit rough. Keeping Watch by Levi Turman, on Flickr

Thanks Pepe, looks like another book I'll have to see if my library has.

I thought I read sharpness is the product of resolution and contrast, is there another metric that quantifies sharpness? Not disagreeing, I just want to understand these terms myself

Very nice ranchy, I would say 1st and last are my favorites. There is a spot on the wall on the first one I can't help but stare at

Thanks tim, I was reading the link in the database yesterday, and it does not seem too complicated, but I have not taken a lens apart before. Thanks especially for the JIS screw information, the last thing I'd want to do is strip out hard to replace screws.
I have a good electronics tool kit, not sure if I have a JIS driver, but I have screw captures and micrometers. If I end up tackling the cleaning I'm post a couple photos.

There was a 135/3.5 in the same lot, but has one fungus snowflake that is keeping me from using it. It appears to be in the back of the front group. I'm a near novice, and I appreciate the advice. I usually carry a zoom that covers the same FL/ speed pretty well(DA 55-300 WR) after some more time I may decide the 200/4 has no advantage to me.

Thank you for your feedback on the SMC version and the link, good to know.. I'll use it still because it fills a large gap in my prime focal lengths from 105mm to 400mm. I was lucky enough to get original hoods also, if I was going for keepers I certainly would have flipped it around.
It feels long for 200mm, I've read modern zoom especially use exaggerated numbers maybe that is why. Does not seems to focus breath like some other lenses where the FOV changes drastically when focusing.

Very nice, I wonder if the same lenses that tested well for the Q will be good fit for the K-3
Bokeh looks a bit like crescents? Anyone else seeing that. Yep this forum is bad or LBA

I was fortunate enough to find a few Takumar lenses somewhat locally. Super tak 35/3.5, 50/1.4, 135/3.5 and 200/f4 all are in pretty unbelievable condition except 135/3.5 has a fungus snowflake on an inner element. and the 50/1.4 has some yellowing which IIRC is fairly easy to fix with sunlight
Some test shots to come, but have to say I'm totally in love with the 35/3.5 already. It's size and handling is great on level with DA limiteds and looking at a couple test shoots seems just as sharp. Having the auto/man switch I'm thinking this could be a good lens to use reversed on some bellows/rails I have coming in the mail

Hi J, I was using a tripod and 12 second timer. I could not even frame the shot or find the moon handheld :)

I had been waiting for almost a month for the moon-between weather, smoke, daytime moon, etc. Much better than the F100-300 I had tried before. Tele-Tak 400/5.6 ISO320 1/80 F16 Heavy Crop |

A couple more with the 400/5.6. This lens is not easy to use. I forgot to fix the CA on at least one. |

I'd say it's a good find. Here's a link for the review page of the bellows and lens, looks like average price is about $140 so if glass is good $75 is great!
Adam really did a nice job on this forum!
Not sure on the other stuff- Looks like negative copier? Ruler is for film enlargements or something.

Thanks Jean, after a couple day of shooting I think I'm in love. Cross posted from my thread in "show me your photos"
Edit: I should add Tele-Takumar 400/5.6 . Does not say SMC but has the look of SMC so I'm not sure....

Hey guys. I have a takumar 105/2.8, but it is in such poor shape I don't really use it. GW for $11
I just got a Tele-takumar 400/5.6 on ebay, I made a low ball gamble, and now I feel like I won the lottery! I paid $140 it is screw mount, and here is my first couple test shots, wide open except last one is 7.1. There was some CA but after this first quick and dirty shoot I feel it's a pretty nice old lens!
wide open sharp!
Sea of Bokeh!
