Funniest thing is that this area appeared randomly. During communist regime, they wanted to build a reservoir which was supposed to be filled from the Arges river. As such, a concrete dam was built to surround the lake. The few modest houses located in this area were bought by the state and demolished. The plans for development were abandoned when communism fell and the area was overtaken by nature, somehow forming a deltaic ecosystem. The biodiversity now encountered here is considered by some to be comparable to that of a small river delta. A 2013 study counted hundreds of species of plants and 96 different species of birds.
Then, Kogayon, an NGO that I'm a member of, made all the studies and required documentation to achieve the protected nature area status. Otherwise area would have probably been targeted by real estate sharks. This was the second protected area that we've managed to establish, it's amazing that we had to fight so hard to achieve this, other cities would be so happy to have such an area while we got one for free. Unfortunately, once the protected natural area status is achieved, the state is further responsible for taking care of it, not the NGO's that developed it. And they are already messing it up it seems to me.

You're kinda close. During the communist regime, it was called "The House of Spark" (Casa Scanteii) as "The Spark" (Scanteia) was was the name of the Romanian Communist Party's official newsletter. It was designed in Stalinist style, socialist realism, resembling the main building of Moscow State University, and was intended to house all the Bucharest's printing presses, the newsrooms and their stuff. Following the so called "revolution" in 1989, it was renamed "The House of the Free Press" and it basically has the same role nowadays, with many of today's newspapers having their headquarters in it. The irony is that nowadays there's almost no free press in Romania. Of course, the situation is not the same as compared to the communist regime, but pretty much all the newspapers are controlled by one political party or another, to the point where there is almost no truly independent press, unfortunately.

That's a very old post, I think I was using K-5& DA 16-45 at that time. As Paul said, you can see all the details on flickr.
Thank you. I don't edit my photos that heavily, for sunset shots I adjust the WB, bump up the exposure, bring down the highlights, bump up the shadows (sometimes a lot), enhance details and add a digital graduated ND. And that's about it, takes me less than 5 minutes. But I don't like the processing of that particular picture, it was a long time ago and I was just starting out with my photography. So probably it's due to a great lens :)
