Perhaps Pentax has its own lenses in development for those focal lengths.

We'll see who's happy and who isn't in about 8 weeks, if not sooner.
It comes down to expectations and subjective taste. I'm quite certain every lens I own - even those from the 60's and 50's - will perform very well on K-,1 when used as it was designed to be used.

It seems to me we don't know what is simple and what isn't. No one should say simple is easy, either. It seems to me defining 'Good' is quite subjective. It seems to me there is more to an image than crisp lines, edge to edge. Super Resolution can make an image incredibly sharp, rich and deep tonality - with the right lens.
The FA Limiteds are Signature lenses - they are the identity products of Pentax. I hope Ricoh knows this and will make every effort to retain them. Of course, the ART will be retaining their special character while making them at least somewhat more modern. If we look at the K-1, which is configured to produce stellar still images while eschewing many modern frills that 'everyone' expects these days, a case can be made for a simple update to the FA Limiteds; coatings, Quick Shift, in-lens motors but no OIS (not necessary less than 200mm), exquisite construction values and - gasp - no aperture ring.

Well, the K-1 and D-FA*70~200/2.8 are supposed to be recently put in production, too . ;)

Nonsense. There would be armed revolution if they didn't continue or reissue the Limiteds. And corporate suicide. And stupid.
Earlier someone made ONE post and let slip the Limiteds are in production again for the first time since late 2012.

Sometimes you have to wonder how much they get paid for this.

I'm fairly confident Ricoh has lower soft costs than CaNikon, and has priced their branded and re-branded products at a profit over the planned production run.

We don't know the whole story yet. It is entirely possible Pentax will manufacture the rumored 6 new primes in Vietnam and is conserving production capacity for them while contracting to Tamron where Tamron actually has capacity.
After all, Pentax historical design strength has always been primes.

If nothing else is accomplished by this diversion, at worst the thread is disrupted and the conversation is halted.

The idea is for Pentax to grow so much they have to add capacity, not to hope they can cut capacity to save money.

Ron, let's talk about when Pentax is so successful they have to open another Vietnam factory instead of trying to think of imaginary ways for Pentax to wither away into nothing and disappear.

^^ Ricoh has a long history of buying failed office equipment companies that own storied brands at deeply discounted prices to acquire Goodwill and often real estate and tech / patents. Not saying that will or won't happen here, but there is precedent.

That would be one way to get Jun Hirakawa back.
