Even though I fool around like in the post above Norm's, I have a feeling, based on the initial articles at the reputable web magazines, there could be a preference cascade back to Pentax coming. I can't place my order until August. I hope we have access in the USA by then.

Go to the Pre-order thread and count the number who claim to have placed an order. Divide by number of registered users to arrive at a percentage. Reduce by a factor to account for propensity bias.* Estimate the potential buying population of markets served. Apply your percentage to determine first-round batch run.
* Anything larger than 12 1/2 10,000ths of one percent is probably wrong.:cool:

HIIK. What I do know is the first batch of 645z's was increased dramatically (from 5,000 to 20,000) to meet dealer pre-order demand. I'd love to know how many B&H and Adorama have ordered for general inventory. I'd love to know how many RIAC has ordered for non-B&H/Adorama distribution.
I personally believe this camera will do better than anyone except Ricoh thinks.

With a global population approaching 8,000,000,000 I think this poll shows a virtual certainty that Pentax can sell 100,000 K-1's in the first round.

No choice for 'I want the K-1 so I'll get the K-1 but I spent my PayPal balance on all the good stuff everyone else is selling to get the money to buy a K-1', so "Yes, but later."
[EDIT] But I chose the one with keeping my K-3.
