I suspect the HSS change in K-1 has to do with enhanced electronics, 1/200 shutter and the fact that 'A' lenses are not chipped. The camera does not know exactly what lens is mounted.

By pressing and holding the AF Mode button the red viewfinder light (which flashes when focus is locked or AF point is moved) can be held ON. This function is useful while composing and spot metering in dim light.
This function apparently only works with automatic lenses. When a manual lens (A or earlier) is mounted this function does not work. Suggest at next FW Update this function should work with manual lenses.
