RE: Sightseeing Screwmount, the SV was acting up so I sent it to Eric Hendrickson. He found nothing wrong, adjusted the speeds and sent it back N/C, but I still think it is acting up (shutter hangs open on random shots and cameras locks up). I’ve shot one roll and some of a second color roll which I will finish tomorrow (we’ve had one weather pattern after another and maybe six hours of sun in three weeks). When they’re back from Walgreens if half the frames are either black or clear then I’ll figure something out - perhaps make an offer on the SV in the Marketplace or send this one to Mark Hama. i’ll Post to the thread soon.

IMO (FWIW I supplied the M50/1.7 for the first camera) the idea is to shoot film with a legacy camera and enjoy the cameraderie of the Flickr Group. A K1000 is the Classic Pentax film body. Just as the Sightseeing Screwmount SV that went around for years is a classic and was the first volume Pentax SLR. It is presently parked in my cellar. Either

All: If you would rather have a K1000 than a digital camera I have a dormant K1000SE and M50/2 I will donate to the cause. I think we should have any mechanical camera CLA’ed first, so it would take a few weeks to get rolling again.
Just let me know.

Thanks but don’t sweat the cost just yet. I’ll send it and have him evaluate before we hit GO (I want him to look at the prism slivering). I’m polling the group’s sentiment about abandoning the current camera.

I have a K1000 SE that probably needs to visit Eric and I’m sure I have an M50/2 around somewhere. I’m willing to send it off to Eric and drop it in the list to continue the thread if the group wants to continue. It’ll probably be a month before everything is ready if it goes to Eric.
What say you?

Behind on processing. My son just finished 4 rounds of chemo and a major surgery, but thankfully my son is now cancer free. While I've posted from waiting rooms, some other things have fallen off.

The camera is boxed and ready to ship to the next user. Film is in transit, since Walgreens would give me prints and a CD but wouldn't return my negatives. My selcted images will link here from pbase, which is my host.

The Sightseeing Screwmount thread uses an open Flickr Group because eventually most users' links to PF from their individual hosting sites will break.

I don't disagree about wherever we want to host - but FWIW, Verizon owns Flickr now and it si secure. Flickr is the Jewel in the crown.

I received the camera from Jason today with a healthy supply of BW400CN included. My local Walgreens still does C-41!!

Since this 'Kaptivating K-Mount' traveling camera club has taken on a decidedly democratic bent compared to the 'Nifty Fifty' and 'Sightseeing Screwmount' I'll put this question to the group. The Kaptivating K-Mount currently has an M50/1.7 attached, a lens with a cult-like following at PentaxForums.
The M50/1.7 was released in 1977, just about a year after the K1000 was released, so it was likely a lens commonly used by early K1000 buyers. In 1979 the M50/2 was released. Later K1000 buyers - and likely many, many K1000 users such as my daughter's High School Newspaper / Yearbook staff and Photography Classes - learned on the M50/2.
So I'll ask the thread - are you nostalgic for what you learned on or have you always wondered what makes the 1.7 so special?
Do you want the M50/1.7 or the M50/2 to travel with the camera? I have one of each and I can send it on with either, as we vote.

Learned from Sightseeing Screwmount (traveling SV):- Moderator maintains the list in the thread
- Moderator groups the list by continent
- Current User PM's next User for shipping address
- Current User posts to thread when shipped
- Next User posts to thread when received (+ courtesy PM to previous user)
- Typical use time is two weeks
- Current User posts photos to Flickr Group and links
- Comments on Flickr or thread
- Someone made a fitted plywood inner liner for a Priority Mail box
- Someone added shaped foam inside the box
- Someone added a OEM User Guide
- As needed, Current User changes the 'skin' box
- Sightseeing Screwmount has never been damaged in shipping
