I believe the top plate is engineering plastic to allow for the antennas. I believe it is solid silver resin, not painted, or at least painted over the silver resin.

It feels like a DSLR. It’s heavier and a bit bigger than I thought it would be. It’s lumpier than an MX with all the buttons and knobs, but the skinny grip does feels more like a film camera.

No - all current Pentax dSLR's (which excludes Q) have an (approx.) 100% coverage OVF with glass pentaprism. Specifications.

Surprisingly, it quite naturally works as a traditional e-dial. It feels very good, not at all awkward.

Indeed I do. I started accumulating in 1999 - but I'm at the point of gluttony now, with no reason or theme or standard for selection and rejection. Hard choices ahead.
The KP is remarkably competent for an in-between body. The K-3 replacement should be stunning.
PZ-1P is a great camera if the flash spring still works and the battery door surround isn't cracked.

Things I'll keep and use:- pre-Spotmatic cameras and lenses
- K bodies + lenses
- A body + lenses
- MX + LX + MZ-S
- K-01
- K-1 + FA Limiteds
- KP + DA Limiteds
The other items just aren't being used, interesting though they may be. I don't need an APSc flagship. KP is fast enough.

I think this will work out as a travel and more casual (very capable) camera that's a lot of fun, and also for some telephoto. It will stay jpeg-only most of the time. I'll use K-1 for more deliberate, fine work.
I also must rationalize my compulsive gear list and acquisition. Selling the DA Limiteds was supposed to be a condition of buying the K-1.

Coming from K-3 (sold) through K-1, I'm pretty impressed.

I received my (very lightly used) silver KP a few days ago as a companion for my K-1. I won't say yet whether I am enthusiastic or merely very satisfied until I have fully tested it - but - it is surely small and surely solid - and faster than K-1. I need to learn all this new tech.
I will say my first impression was the box sure is heavy. The camera is without question solid and robust. Don't listen to the nay-sayers. Compared to K-1 it is also svelte and fast - having both is like having in your garage a fine full-sized touring sedan and a tight, sporty coupe.
I have the SMC DA15, 21, 35 and 40 Limiteds in black and the HD DA70 in silver. It will be interesting to see beauty shots with green rings rather than red :D .
