Another classic, though I use 28mm, 50mm, 105mm when 28mm is my wide end. :)

The Q/01 and Q/06 are both robust, accurate lenses. The Q/02 and the toy lenses - not so much.

Per lens? More than they would make selling the two* modern DFA lenses they designed.
* I’m not counting the screwdrive Macros.

We can’t even agree on what is Good, really, and that’s a problem. Until there is a commonly accepted set of qualities that become a standard we can’t measure, sort and rank against that standard. That means all discussion and ranking is biased by subjective opinion, not by measured, scientific results. There will never be a Best because we don’t collectively know what is Good.
To get to Best we first must find Better, which comes from the set of Good (in this case) Pentax lenses. Standard < Comparative < Superlative. Good < Better < Best.
IMO this is the root of why these ‘polls’ can only be for amusement and why, for instance, DPR reviews don’t work for us. We don’t agree on what defines Good.
I’m agreeing with Rondec. And frankly, I think my K85/1.8 is a better lens than my FA77/.8

Whatever. I have three fast 85’s. I’m in for the pre-order as soon as it is available. Who wouldn’t be?

Frankly, I’m more interested in the lens than the camera.

I’d say slim to none, but CP+ is another story. I hear there’s supposed to be some kind of new camera there too. :D

These production under-estimates were not unheard of. I recall Adam posting around the time the D850 was released the pre-order was 50.000 units at just one of the two New York online retailers. Pentax reportedly had to push back K-1 a full year because 645z pre-order was 20,000 units; the initial planned production for the entire run was reportedly only 10,000 units. IIRC planned production of K-1 was 7,000 units a month. It was backordered for months until they caught up.
I was #6 in line for the 50/1.4 and I still had to wait a week longer than a few people here. (Recall Ricoh sold out the pre-release production before the first shipments were made).

DPR reviews of Pentax products are just Clickbait and we’re the hapless perch. They hook us. Every. Time.

I think some people want Pentax to be like Canon and Nikon and Sony, or different like Fuji is different (which isn’t very different). That thinking misses the point of Pentax, which is to be different the way Pentax is different. Playing close to the vest is part of the difference, I guess. People who think their release schedule is too slow aren’t thinking about the whole picture. In the last 5 1/2 years they have released 6 dSLR’s, 2 GR’s, several Thetas (the money product), many compacts and some B2B products. I didn’t count lenses, but the number of OEM Pentax lenses is bigger than people think.
Ricoh’s product release schedule is really quite robust.

Personally I doubt the snap on prism housing cover would enhance my photographing experience but the custom grip on the KP might. I think the custom grip is an extension of the interchangeable grips idea, which is one of those charming little features that seem to spring up frequently from Pentax. If three choices is good, isn’t four choices better?

If your main focus is to have the always latest gadget with cutting edge technical specs it is unlikely you will often spend your gear entertainment money on Pentax. OTOH I’f you experience joy from the feel of holding a camera, using a camera or lens and interacting with them, joy from the act of making photographs, then you might be more inclined to spend your money here.

The Custom KP project was a personal, private effort by the man who designed the K-30 within Ricoh. He showed it to management and they decided to show it here to gauge interest. That’s all.

@Mistral75 gave a detailed answer to that question elsewhere (or upthread). From the CP+ 2017 presentation of the 3-D printed mock-up until actual shipping in July , 2018, including the delay caused by production problems. I’d look for pre-orders February, 2020 and shipping early April.

Why would the coating wear off? Especially urethane, which is more durable than shellac (did people urethane wood in 1980?).
I’ve seen 67 wooden grips where the wear from gripping is obvious, but they aren’t chipped or flaking. The rub marks are character.

The same as the wooden Grip A for an LX after a year of use.

When using LCD (LiveView) I bring my elbows in, left palm supporting the camera and lens, and raise the camera to chin height. I look slightly down at the LCD and manage controls with my thumbs as usual. Never use the Smartphone extended arms approach - it isn’t necessary.
Alternatively (on K-1 and KP) I flip the LCD horizontal and use the camera as If it has a waist-level finder. Focus Zoom (OK Button) is especially effective this way. As a glasses wearer I use this method more and more with AF lenses and when I’m using Focus Peaking with manual lenses for shallow DoF. It really works.
The LCD is essntially an EVF. We just don’t use it that way.

I think the decision to buy a professional caliber lens by enthusiasts like you and me requires some thought and choice. We can’t have them all (though it seems I am trying to :D ) If I buy the Weighty Eighty there is something else I won’t be able to do - and that’s fine. It is just a choice.
