Our chickadees have left, as have the juncos and pine siskins. Blue jays went north a month ago and the southern population has not yet appeared. I stopped feeding the deer and the ungrateful wretches made one evening stop and disappeared. Our loons are back and nesting, as well as a bunch of mallards. The two foxes have moved into their den site somewhere yet to be found by me. Timberwolves still howl at night, but they have not made a kill on our property since November. Even our river otter moved on, like in the Disney flick "Flash, the Teenage Otter." I miss winter.

I shot these images during a snowfall in New Hampshire. We were visiting family and these birds were in a tree close to a window. All shot with the DA*200mm.

Lucky enough to see our neighbor otter in the open water under a deadfall ash tree on the shore. He was eating a good sized fish, looked like either a crappie or a smaller largemouth bass. Shot with the DA*200, f/2.8. Light conditions were terrible but the lens caught the critter pretty well, I think. The third photo shows the otter on an old broken dock before freeze-up.

Great capture!
Here is a crop of a shot with the DA* 200 of a goose in flight at about 450 yards. Seems the SDM focus locks just fine on a moving target.

Very threatening skies with snow on the furrows makes a great image. Well done, again!

Cool box truss girder design with steel grated deck. Nice shot. I suppose a color shot shows the rust?

Very nice water and sun. The creek almost appears captured in the very act of freezing over!

Practice shots with the DA*200 of a squirrel who really, really enjoys the corn bin set out for the deer. Minnesota Otis challenges woodchucks in size these days. ---------- Post added 12-12-14 at 02:47 PM ----------
Only in my readings of archeological books. A hobby that I am afraid drives both my lens obsession and my travel desires. The Turkish southern peninsula city with the walled fortress has a storied history that places it on my list of destinations. Your country is dramatically beautiful and your photos portray place and people wonderfully.

First shot was last night, full darkness, at ISO6400. This deer is an 8 point buck and his big brother showed up this morning for the second image. Third is a portrait of my cat with the 200. Fun lens and very versatile. Love the F2.8 capability. BTW, the night shot was manual focus because I was shooting through a glass door and the focus assist bounced back and would not track the eyes.

Possible. But trumpeters are quite rare. Tundra swans often have a small spot of yellow on the bill at the base of the eye, while trumpeters have solid black bills. I cannot see a yellow spot on these bills but that is not definitive.
