Some incredible shots in here! Winter is not playing a very nice game with me at the moment in the tropics... it's more like early Spring! Last month we only had 3 clear nights in the entire month :( Hoping this month is going to be a lot better but so far it's pretty frustrating. Last night I got a break in between the clouds and managed to image Saturn.
Details:
Skywatcher ED100 APO 900mm F9
5x Powermate
NEQ6 Pro mount
Pentax K3
10x 1 second @ ISO 200 stacked. Conditions were fairly poor with only a 2 on the seeing index but still happy with the result :) Total zoom is 4500mm

Wow great shots!!! The Celestron SkyProdigy130 I ordered was faulty (never could auto align with any stars even though it was an inky black sky full of stars), so I got my money back and have now purchased a HEQ6 Pro Mount, SkyWatcher Black Diamond ED100 scope and the Orion Autoguider with 50mm refractor guidescope. Cannot wait to get it all!

Some pretty impressive shots coming out in here guys! I took a holiday during the long weekend here in Australia to a little town by the Ocean called Clairview in Queensland and set up the K5 at about 2am in the morning with the Sigma APO 70-200 F2.8 and Astrotracer - I took about 40 shots (everytime I had to move the camera I had to let the gps position recalibrate so got quite a few images with startrails) - I finally got lucky with the 2nd last shot!
Single shot @200mm F3.5, ISO2500, 15 seconds. Can see the running man too! I have made an enquiry about the "vacation package" for the astrotrac - the O-GPS isn't cutting it for me with it being very hit and miss at the best of times. |

Thanks everyone! :) I headed out last night in near perfect conditions west of Mackay Australia and did this nice stack - 26 minutes of 30 seconds at F3.5 ISO800 on the Sigma 10-20mm - the light trails are glowsticks in the river |

Hey everyone,
I've been watching these forums for a while and thought I'd finally register - I swapped from a Canon 7D to the K5 in August last year and couldn't be happier :D half the price of the 7D and the quality is like chalk and cheese! Here's a shot I took back in March of Orion, using the O-GPS1 and a Sigma 18-200 @ 170mm. Settings are F6.3, ISO1600, 120 seconds. Pretty happy with the results :) I got a Sigma 70-200 F2.8 coming hopefully Friday so looking forward to trying that out with astrophotography too! |
