We ran into a group of these at Lava Hot Springs in Idaho in April. They were very social with each other, and kind of fearless of me. They didn't sit still for long though… All somewhat cropped
Note on the last photo, ISO is 3200. Two of them @ f/5.6. Just Lightroom default noise reduction and sharpening settings…

Trying to stay focussed on the eye, AF-C, Expanded Area AF (L). Sorry for the full-sized images ;-)

For what it's worth, I've been wanting to make these images for over 40 years, since the first time I saw a hummingbird. I finally have a camera and lens that can make them.

Mine is working fine, no pieces falling off yet. But it is a big long lens, and all handling mistakes are properly punished:

Not much I've done lately with the 560mm that is both interesting and excellent. But at least this sequence is interesting. From the dark, gloomy day that was New Year's Eve 2019: Rough-legged Hawk at the Bear River Refuge:

Both with KP, mounted on a gimbal, out an open window. Looking forward to a new APS-C body with more, smaller AF points. Otherwise, the KP is great! shot at ISO 2000!

If this works, I think it was a Flickr issue…

Are you still not seeing it? I can't make it be missing, even if I view this page with someone else's computer, with no Flickr login.

Moving Targets are not easy, but the KP is the first camera I've trusted to track in continuous AF. The wind was blowing the lens all over the place. Using this lens in the field is a real challenge! _KP04841.jpg by Michael Stahulak, on Flickr

The weather has been miserable for photography, but I did finally take the DA560 to the local aviary to test it out. Just snapshots, but the lens handles well. So far, I need to use it on a monopod, but, given that, I think it is sharp enough (f/5.6 at near minimum focus) ISO 800 (go KP!!, but I do hope to shoot at lower ISOs one day when it's brighter):

I'm so grateful to be able to use this lens. I know I can make some images that will be memorable, at least for me!

I picked up the used HD Pentax-DA 560mm ED AW lens that Roberts Camera was selling on eBay, and it seems brand new. It came with everything but the paperwork. I’ve looked all over the web for a pdf of the Operating Manual, with no luck. Does anyone have one they would be willing to scan and post?
Thanks,
Mike
