Do you mean ''K30 does not require to unsolder'' that there is no need to unsolder wires in that model? It needs too as K-5. That lithuanian article is my experience. I modified K-5 as well and use it now for infrared photography. I have infinity on all lenses startin from 14 mm.

Hi,
nice to know about such big enthusiam in modifying Pentax cameras.
Three days ago I completed modification of my Pentax K-5 to IR spectrum (640 nm) camera. This was second modification done by myself, first was in autumn 2016, Pentax K-30. So, I have a little experience and can say, that focusing to infinity is possible even using PDAF. CDAF also definitely. I wrote complete modification guide, but it is in lithuanian language :)

Pentax K-30 modifikavimas ? infraraudon?j? spinduli? kamer?

I used 640 nm IR filter in both cases. It is 2 mm thick and provide some refraction that allows you to calibrate sensor block to achiev infility. For astrophotography and infinity focus you can use special clear filter, e.g. provided by Kolarivision. Maybe there are special hydrogen alpha filters.
The main mistake you made is unscrewing 3 glued Allen screws from sensor block. It is better to screw them completely to the end first and to measure how much rotations you need. In my K-5 left bottom screw needed 2 and 1/3 rotation, right upper screw 2 and 2/3 rotations and right lower screw 1.5 rotations.
After installation of 2 mm 640 nm IR filter I needed to make additional unscrew of Allen screws 1.5 rotations to achieve NORMAL infinity (on the infinity mark of the lens, not on the 0,7 m mark :) ). In K-30 camera - 2 rotations. These allow to move sensor block a little apart from lens mount and then you can achieve infinity. How much you should unscrew depends on refraction of the newly installed filter. I used 14 mm Samyang or 18-35 Sigma Art for the control of infinity.
After this step you need to calibrate PDAF. There are 3 Allen screws in the bottom of the camera. You need just 1, that is more proximal to the lens mount of the camera. For IR filter installed on K-5 I needed to rotate that screw counterclockwise. If you want to use just 1 lens for astrophotography, calibrate just for it. If you want use different lenses (in my case 14-100 mm range), use for the calibration of PDAF 50 mm lens. After that make Fine focus adjustment (-5 for Sigma 18-35, +5 for FA*85 f1.4, +10 for FA 100 f2.8 macro - I used these lenses). For samyang 14 mm I needen no focus calibration because it is manual focus lens :)

BTW, I also unsoldered (not cut) dust removal contacts from sensor block. Now I realise, that there is possibility to dissasemble Hot mirror ant clear filter with piezo strip and in case of very clear environment to use latter to safe dust remowal function of the camera.

Good luck in the process of modification!
