Here's a couple of shots cross-posted from the 'pet a day' thread. The postman delivered a used DA 40mm Limited yesterday so of course I had to throw it on the camera and test it out. :D
I think I'm going to like this lens. ;)

Some very nice shots with that 18-135mm. I can see why people rave about it.

It's been gloomy/overcast/miserable/rainy/stormy for several days here but this evening the sun finally decided to come out which meant I could go out and play in the 'golden hour' after supper (yes I know I have a WR camera but I gave up getting soaking wet for fun years ago! :D)
Lens choice was the kit 18-55 WR and I tried shooting in RAW for the first time tonight. I'm still learning my way around the K-30 and it's many options (compared to my old film SLRs) so it was a case of trying different modes/settings to see what I could get.
First up was a shot of a lily which I thought I'd better shoot now as they are going off fast, they don't last long and most were well past their best before date!
The rain and heat/humidity have certainly plumped up the fruits though. The grape vines are loaded and it looks like being a bumper crop this year. The vines are trained over a wire and pipe framework that is roughly 15ft W x 60ft L x 6ft H and this shot was of just a few bunches on one end.
The plum trees have the makings of a good crop this year too. They seemed to die back a few years ago but look healthy enough now.
While I was out there I spotted this guy basking on the trunk of a maple tree in the front yard and it was just too tempting to see how well the 18-55 WR worked as a macro lens. He let me get surprisingly close and I was about on the limit in terms of focus distance. This is a 100% crop just to see what it would look like.
It was a fun way to spend 15 minutes in the evening sun. :D
