I have the DA 18-135mm WR lens. It's a good lens - very sharp, quick focusing, and good handling. The lens is heavy which makes it durable but also tiring to carry around all day. I like the zoom range. You can get nice wide angle shots at 18mm and crisp telephoto shots at the far end without the absolute need of a tripod. The bottom line is that this lens I versatile and of good value. Because of that it is a popular upgrade and somewhat in demand. That raises the price both new and used. I would not consider this lens inexpensive. Let me offer you an alternative. Check out some of the older used FA 28-105mm lenses. They are fair weather lenses (but somehow we managed in the weather back then), a bit limited in zoom range, and some have many plastic pieces in them but they are much more inexpensive, offer excellent color rendering, and are still plenty sharp for our cameras.
