That looks like the 8-8 lens.

Well, try it and see if you like it. If you have the kit lens, take some pictures and compare them, especially indoors, where the faults of a lens are shown more easily. Any lens can work reasonably well outside when it's bright and you're using F8.

That one is supposed to be pretty decent (as far as zooms of that era go). Might be as good as the kit lens, and faster at the long end. It's got 12 elements in 9 groups.

The other 28-90, which was the FA 28-90 and also the Takumar-A 28-90, is the awful one (8 elements in 8 groups). I had the Takumar version. Soft at all apertures, and the colors were pretty bad and not natural looking at all, especially browns and yellows.
