Kerrowdown, I've really been admiring the PP of your last several pics on this thread. You're creating a beautiful, dreamy landscape out of what could easily be harsh conditions. What do you use if you don't mind...?

...this is not a forest walk, nor does it show lichens, fungi, or moss. I'm not sure where these pics should lay, but this is my favorite thread so I hope you don't mind. Pics where taken on a hike (during a drive-through) in a precious valley in southeastern Utah. This place was pristine and strangely spiritual. There were no people around (I think we saw 2 cars on a 17 mile drive through the valley). The isolation was immense. Simply a special place.

It's not much of a forest/lichen walk but this is my favorite thread so, sorry...not orry. Taken on the Audobon Birdtrail on Dauphin Island, Alabama. Taken with K70 and my newly acquired Kiron 105/2.8 macro.

Howdy Norm. It's currently 62 F here in Montgomery, but unfortunately we're dodging a couple tornadoes as a cold front is pushing in from the west. Not the kind of excitement I was looking for...but I don't think I would handle -33 very well either. Hunker down my friend. I hope all is well.

The elusive stinkhorn and some fungus that I should know the name of, but don't. Taken on Dauphin Island, Alabama. K70 with Sigma 18-250.

It's dragonfly season folks! Great little hike today. I was hoping to catch a dragonfly or two, but it looks like dragonflies are all I got! These little dragons were everywhere today...one of the pics suggests why. In the last pic, I was lucky enough to catch a dragonfly finishing a meal (my photos suggest he was dining on one of his own) . I was amazed by his jaw-spread (so I zoomed it) dragonflies are charismatic and beautiful, yet they are as brutal and vicious as anything I've ever imagined. K70 with Tam 90. Sorry if I attached too many pics...

Great little hike today between showers. To me a 'Great Hike' = the company of my favorite mushroom hunting lady, a ton of mushrooms, a couple dragonflies, and some funky wild flowers. A snake of two would have been nice, but I'm not gonna complain. Tam 90mm on k70. I apologize if there are too many pics, I was lucky enough to have good luck today.
Sorry my mistake in using salty language in my original post. Clean language is one of the many things that helps to make PF my favorite place on the interwebs. I humbly apologize for my infraction.

A few more from yesterday. The last pic was taken wide open with my 15 ltd--not necessarily the lens' intended use, but what heck I felt like using it.

Another rainy weekend (4th in a row). Conditions were poor, but I had to get out for a click or two.

It's been mighty chilly down here this week. Today we were greeted with sunshine and temps in the mid-40's....it was time to get the hell out of the house! I've been playing around with a few nik plugins with my PP and I've also been into the wine, so there's a good possibility I might have overcooked some things (please let me know if it's unbearable) . The bluebird was nice enough to land on a ray of sunshine for me. He was patient while I fumbled around with focus--still missed but these were my best 2 of that pretty bird. I have to admit that taking a photo of some leaves in ice made me feel like I was Norm for a moment. Taken with my sigma 18-250mm DC macro HSM on a k70.

Normally I have my tam90 stuck to my camera. This past week I gave it a rest and gave my sigma 18-250 DC macro HSM some time on the mount. To this point I had been a little underwhelmed by this lens, but I had a great week with it and my confidence is now restored.

Todays mushroom hunt...twas a dreary Tuesday morn my friends. On a couple of the pics I used onboard flash set at -2 (I think it might help with the background from getting burned out?). The 4th pic was actually from a different shroom hunt.

Norm, that heatwave that hit Algonquin in late September was a godsend. The 30 degree C weather that week made Canada feel like home. I couldn't imagine -30. We've had a cold week or two down her in Bama. Our low temps dipped below freezing for several nights, and we even had a little snow last week. When things get cold down here, all of the sudden us southerners aren't so tough. The cold old weather is even enough to keep Roy Moore from stalking teenage girls at the local roller skating rink.

It doesn't come off of my camera often Norm. I love what it can do. I haven't tried your DFA 100 macro, but I'd like to...either way Tess knew what she was doing.

I noticed these growing on an oak tree. I'm not familiar with the type, but it looked interesting.
