Don't know about that one, Bob, but his 'Yojimbo' was ripped off for 'A Fistful of Dollars'.
Sergio Leone was sued about this.

I reckon de facto censorship is a flawed model for parenthood, Les, but I'll leave that up to his family.
Just remember, you're the grandparent, in other areas you've got a duty passed down the ages to be reckless and secretly spoil him in spite of their wishes. :D

Many references in Westworld to the Western classics, and a nod to Japan in the second series, with a couple of Samurai episodes.
Far, far better than the original novel and movie, just a different level of sophistication altogether.

Kurosawa really informs both the Western and SF lists.
His Seven Samurai gave us The Magnificent Seven and his The Hidden Fortress was the inspiration for Star Wars (the Jedi knights are really samurai!).

I'm not a fan either - just seems to be himself all the time, no acting involved - but we've got to give him 'The Searchers', I reckon! :)
