Yeah, I think the key to all sports is to understand them. Predicting what's about to happen is all important, so the more we understand the sport, the better our pics will be.
And yes, wicketkeepers are great for their expressions, as are bowlers after a wicket or beating the bat. :)

In a suburban cricket grand final, a batsman thrashes the ball through the off side in the victory against the cricket team I used to captain.
It was all a bit hard to watch, but that's sport - you both win and lose. It was a warm day, so consoling beers were consumed afterwards.

The Powerful Owl is an eastern seaboard resident of Australia. It gets to 60cm of length and this one clutches the leftovers of its catch - a ring-tailed possum. It is said that cats and small foxes have been carried off in the past. You can see the possum's tail wrapped around the branch, the rear two legs, and dangling bits the owl didn't care for. Sure have, Swip!
But of course, it's all about the feet. :)
Owls like hawks grab mice or whatever with their claws, these things use their beak on insects like most other birds.

Well, all suburbs are in cities, Craig! :D
I've seen them in Royal Park, North Carlton, along the Merri Creek in Fitzroy, Fawkner Park in South Yarra. They just need the trees.

They do okay in cities, too, you can see them occasionally up on power lines, just watching. Nocturnal, but they're not raptors, they're more like flycatchers/nighjars. |

Only about 100 left, and bellbirds making life hell for them.

Spotted Pardalote, and a Powerful Owl occasionally munching on the white parrot that it would have swooped on while it was sleeping overnight. The owls have been known to take possums, pigeons, bats and, it's said, small cats.

Thanks, FreeSpirit. I was surprised - I've only previously seen them outside Melbourne, and then I saw this family absolutely hoeing into that bush - very messy and noisy eaters. :)
