UncleVanya,
Storage is cheap clicks with me and I will be all over it now :-) Got to buy lots of it.
That dry bag idea is awesome. I can keep my second camera and lens in it. At least for nature photography during canoeing I can keep one in my hand ha-ha.

No, I meant to say I am going for K-3ii for now, invest in a good quality wide angle that has been suggested to me on these pages that works well with K-1 too, and will wait around November-December for K-1. My K-r and K-5iis will get passed on to my son or any young generation in my siblings who would like to have a go at them :-)
I used 6MP for both K-5iis (wildlife) and K-S2 (landscape, macro, family and friends' events) for no good reason. I was just trying to save on memory card space. But as I am moving to going long distances for observing wildlife (rain forests, gray wolves in Yellowstone NP, wildlife of northern Pakistan, etc.), I am trying to expand my technical skills in photography as well.
I would like to carry back-up cameras as I have lost many of my Pentax cameras on kayaking, canoeing, and white water rafting excursions. I have also been robbed of my camera and equipment at gun point in one country hahaha. Luckily, I had my other camera back at hotel.

Hi all,
I have been reading all the comments for the last two days, logged in today and quickly went through them all.
I have made the choice on the basis of my style of photography - hiking with my dog and taking less than ordinary shots of whatever I get for record, cropping it most amateurishly, and then sharing it with dedicated followers, who are family, relatives, and friends. My dog offers me protection on those lonely trails (basically, it is psychological) and he is good in pointing out land animals (rabbits, coyotes, black bears) much before I am aware. However, I am expanding my shooting horizons and getting into more and more event shots for fun. But I think I will rather wait for investment in that direction.
All these shots have been taken at 6MP, the first one using 18-135 mm on K-S2 over a tripod.
I will take this pix off after few days.

I apologize for I was out and about and rarely checking the internet.
I would like to thank everybody for great advice and suggestions.
I have pretty much made up my mind on the basis of my photographic interest and these forums have been very helpful.

newmikey,
You have nailed it. There are 3 different systems and you got to choose one. You can't have lenses for one and choose the other camera.

pres589,
yes, this is what Adam is suggesting too - buy K-1 now, retain K-5IIs and replace it later with K-3ii.

reh321,
Wow! This is technical information packed in layman's term for easy illustration. I got it now. Thanks for explaining it in this manner by giving an example.

Hi ramseybuckeye,
Thank you for the advice. It is true that if I settle for K-3ii, i can invest in at least one other quality lens for the price of K-1. Otoh, if I want to upgrade, my mind says, go for the best body lol.

Suhail

normhead,
And I am inclining towards this. K-3ii for birding, but I also want K-1 for more landscape and macro shots. Let us see how much deep I can get into my bank account.

Hi UncleVanya,
I shoot moving animals, preferably in their habitats. I don't go for close ups. A bird is, therefore, an object against a landscape or a historic building. I use K-5IIs for these shots.
Other than the above, I shoot landscapes as my dog and I hike together. It is usually my dog standing or hiking against landscape. I also am taking more and more macros of wildflowers as I hike. At present, I use K-S2 with either a mediocre DA 18-135 mm wr or DFA 100mm/f2.8 macro.
I hope this explains and I have got you viewpoint :-)

Hi C_Jones,
This is very nicely explained. I appreciate your advice.

JeffB,
I just got double-minded because I was thinking if I have to move up with a camera body, I might as well go for the best.
Thanks and regards,

Hi luftluss,
Thank you so very much for checking out my website to first know who I am and what I am shooting. For that blog site, unfortunately, I am resorting to pixel size of only 6MP and that too on jpeg. I take bird shots while hiking with my dog and want to show the birds, who are almost always moving/flickering, in their natural habitat. I have only recently started shooting at 16MP. I am now feeling like a fool LOL.
Thanks for the suggestion. It makes sense to me now.
Regards,
Suhail

I think great advice has come in already :-) ---------- Post added 05-25-16 at 10:55 PM ----------
It means if I invest in K-1, I will have to invest in compatible FF lenses as well.

Suhail ---------- Post added 05-25-16 at 10:57 PM ----------
Thanks for the advice. Those images are super-mega-awesome!
Suhail ---------- Post added 05-25-16 at 10:59 PM ----------
So I can keep K-5IIs for telephoto shots and go for a K-1 with the macro and the widest sharp wide angle zoom possible?
Suhail ---------- Post added 05-25-16 at 11:07 PM ----------
Adam,
So then buying a K-1 for (1) macro-photography and (2) sharpest wide-angle zoom available for landscapes will make sense.
I can find the best quality wide-angle zoom lens (affordable :-)) from the lens review section.
Btw, I am not sure why it is like that K-3ii is cheaper than K-3 on amazon.ca and latter is not even available at Henry's in Canada.

Suhail

Hi,
I own a K-5IIs, a K-S2, and a K-r for back-up usually left at home. I keep a 300 mm lens over K-5IIs all the time for wildlife photography, and use either a 100mm/F2 macro or a 18-135 mm for nature (flowers and landscapes with my dog in it) photography on K-S2.
Reading about K-1 and K-3ii on the web, I am salivating. Given my interest of wildlife and nature photography, should I buy a K-1 or K-3ii or perhaps invest in a good quality wide angle zoom lens for landscapes.
I bought my Pentax DA* 300 mm and Pentax 100 mm macro after seeking advice on these forums and I have not been disappointed by these two. I thought it's about time I sought more advice.
I will be looking forward to hearing from you.
Regards,
Suhail
