The problem pushed me away from purchasing a brand new K-S2 for my son last July. I was tempted but I was thankful I resisted the temptation. I had my son use my k-5II for our trip. All went well. I wish Pentax will move away from this technology. They should stick to the KP and the k-3 series technology to avoid such problems.

Actually it scared me off buying one last week. Like I said, the k-s2 has a very good feedback except for this problem. The errors on the d5300 as far as I've read is I think even worse. It can't focus properly.

I'm thinking of getting 1 for my son. However, this problem is blocking my decision. Is there a list of serial number of cameras affected? Do we have a census of the number of users affected? I can't understand why this solenoid problem wasn't addressed early on during the k-30 and k-50 era. This could've been avoided for models thereafter.
