Hold on to your cash and wait to see what next year brings with the lenses on the road map maybe?

I'm a big fan of the 43, but only since I acquired the k-1. On the k-3 I found the DA40 would mostly beat it (for reliability of nailing a shot). with the DA40 it will nail the focus 99% of the time, and look awesome. It's your composition skills that let you down. With the FA43 (on APSC), 80% of the time the shots look a bit bland, or weird, but every so often it will deliver something amazing. If your hit rate with the DA40 is one in two, dont be surprised if your hit rate with the FA43 is 1 in 20.

Unless of course you are shooting the FA43 on the K-1. The only DA40 I still have is the XS version, not because it was the best, but simply because it is the smallest. The corner performance of the DA40 is a little worse than the M40, although the colour, contrast, and bokeh is noticeably better. The FA43 is substantially better on the K-1, although flare resistance and purple fringing is improved with the newer coatings of the DA40. For the k-3, I'd recommend the DA40 (for those who don't own either). For the k-1, the FA43 is better, but it's not the best FF lens

For the size alone, the FA43 is my most used lens on the K-1. Personally I'd not bother with the sigma 35 f1.4. I'm certain it's a better lens than either my FA31 or FA43, but I quite like small lenses, so it's not quite my cup of tea. I already find that the FA31 is touching the larger scale of what I'm happy with. If I didn't own either of those lenses already, and didn't mind the size, I'd probably buy the sigma.

as a way out there suggestion, have you considered the voigtlander 40mm f2?

I'm not sure i'd want to dispense with the convienience of having a small pancake 43mm, but if I was to do it all over, having a different rendering of a voigtlander would be something I'd consider.

If it wasn't for the size, I'd be interested in the sigma. If I didn't own the FA31, I'd still buy the FA43 first. If I owned the FA31 already, I'd buy the FA77. If I owned the FA31 and FA77, I'd buy the DA55. If I owned none of the above, the DA55 or sigma (depending on whether you prefer wide or normal).

There's always the DFA 50 macro, just to be annoying.
