It's the beauty of the Nikon RAW that applies baked in CA reduction 😉

Agree on the oddness. But they have to wait with the APS-C cameras to not prematurely expose the new top model ;)

In good old times your lenses had the task to cater to which resolution at the sensor? 10, 16?

I guess there must be some constructive additional effort to lenses that will not limit sensors of 24MP+ ins APS-C.

I would see at least as many as are considering a Fujinon 8-16 f2.8 at 2000€.

And, isn't it logical, if they know they are offering it to not so many interested in it that they would have to charge a higher price? And, was not every newly presented high quality lens just expensive at the introduction?

I don't know how loud this lens might be, but a small, light, not too fast, modest wideangle is probably the least critical to excessive focus noise. The depth of field will cover a lot, the focus changes are small, the focussing group (probably) small and leightweight. Actually, this would be a good candidate for PLM or DC. I would not exclude this possibility, since the DA 20-40 does not show many signs of excessive size gain by incorporating it. But, true, the mechanical aperture makes it unlikely in this case.

However, this might be more of a seriously cheap kit lens with very solid IQ than a specialist lens for those quiet moments.
