Wow, what a pretentious post. Time for some self reflection... If I would be a business seeking for advice I would know where not to look for. Good luck with your business.

By the way, IIRC asahiman did not say that ten more lenses are (soon) to be presented; he just claimed, when the idea of renewed APS-C lensed (16-50 and 50-135) was brought up that there would be ten more lenses in the lineup before that (reciting from memory). This might be a slight difference, but it could (or not) change the meaning...

But this thread is about DFA*85/1.4, most of the time, and nowhere in the last posts I assumed the 70-200/4 was meant. However, I would have wondered if it would have been announced at a price lower than the DFA*50/1.4...

[edit: yeah, it has been about the *prime lens... now the 70-200 arrived here too...]

Wasn't that for the 70-200 f4?

Which makes perfect sense. FF does take the position of former MF in many aspects and a set of modern * lenses covering this sensor format is necessary for any serious system. A set of limiteds with character is already available and for many people sensor development in APS-C will keep this a more than sufficient system for almost all applications, and offer the possibility to go for a smaller and lighter kit.

Right. But for cameras it has to be considered that they are more and more connected devices. This means they need antennas, for BT, Wifi and GPS reception, the electronic compass for astrotracer etc... You cant host all that in a Faraday cage, thus the K1 and KP having polycarbonate upper parts.

And I would not underestimate the advantage of -cleverly used - not metal materials. Beside the weight advantage they might also offer protection, a metal part would transfer impact power in the case of a fall to inner parts of the camera that might bend. A polycarbonate cover might break, but can be replaced and might have damped all the stress.

Nevertheless, the GPS prism housing could be made of carbon fibre, but this might be just over the top.

I still hav not seen a single example where stars on the MkII disappeared that would be visible on the K-1 MkI.

Lens correction might be optional in theory, but many lenses are not optically corrected anymore and lens correction is considered to deal with these deficiencies. At it is not lossless at all, I bet vignetting correction at the edge costs you more detail in critical conditions than any Pentax MKII processing.

Actually, I kind of like the grey one in the bottom of the second picture. I resembles somehow surveying equipment...

If the stick-on prism-covers have a built in GNSS of the newest generations I could even warm upt to those as an accessory...

Sure, it is the EVF, higher dependence on in camera correction of lenses amongst others that does not make it too attractive for me. But they are clearly targeting the same user group as Pentax with the limiteds. I think a comparable bundle costs the same in both systems, but I like the little Pentax implementations of SR, Astrotracer etc.
11-18 was absolutely necessary for Pentax, now an update of 16-50 and maybe new motor for 50-150 would bring the system back on top, everything above that can be done with DFA, there size difference would not be significant.
But there is nothing wrong with the limiteds, except for a slightly higher price for some, but this could be corrected.

I would wait for some optical tests. I have never sern so much CA on a lens, even at f5.6, as with this Fuji.
But I agree, Fuji is so hard trying to copy what Pentax/Ricoh - limiteds, GR, affordable 645... - that I can see the attraction of their products. But for me they just don't cut it.

I would see it like this: in a tele lens the petals of the hood could be enormously long. If you make the hood exactly that long that you don't need to cut out the corners it can stay round. It is not the maximum possible length but flare and straylight are a lesser problem anyway and one main purpose is to avoid e.g. direct sunlight on the front element.
