Yes! I didn’t realise the hood was there at first: sitting fitted perfectly down the bottom of the lens case

This super takumar 200mm 1:4 which originally belonged to my (maternal) grandfather and then my father. He doesn’t want it or have a need for it, so gave it to me last week when I was visiting. [emoji4]

Christmas brought me an HD DA 21 mm f3.2 Limited OMGOMGOMGOMG I love this lens!

I love it so much in fact, that I've decided to shoot with it every day this year (it being 2021, you see ;) )

Nice! I have the EX; what's the difference/s in the ART?

read a bit further ... faster AF would be a maHOOsive plus! I agree bokeh is not a strength (at least of the EX) but sharp OMG. I don't think my EX really falls off much in terms of sharpness though. I did have to calibrate the living crap out of it; it was soooooooooooo back-focused.

Interesting about live-view. I'll remember that when I break out my EX version of this again (though that'll be a while, since I've virtually superglued my DA21 to the camera xP )

Christmas was gooooood to me - with a KP under the tree. :D

It is a wonderful step up from my K-30 (though I still have some learning to do with it)

Yep: "Let's Spend the Night Together". Was also - at least in some countries - titled "Time is on our Side", which is the name I first saw it under. It's from the early 80s, I think. Keef is just ... so Keef, throughout. ;)

That's them alright. Wonderful chocolate (and our favourite coffee beans - and Josie makes a damn fine coffee with them too)

---------- Post added 28th Dec 2014 at 09:10 PM ----------

I love it so far, that's for sure :)

---------- Post added 28th Dec 2014 at 09:13 PM ----------

That's interesting. I suspect it would be different for different styles of music too. Something defined by the loose and raucous sound of an electric versus classical, or even modern acoustic styles; the former I suspect would work better with the intonation vagaries of the standard guitar, whereas the other two (and more of course) would be rather likely to work better with consistent intonation. ;)

I've listened to sound clips of essentially the same guitar, same amp etc playing the same thing, with standard vs Earvana nut. I found the standard nut sounded much more pleasant - my wife, a non-musician, but a good listener, agreed.

I found the Earvana did clearly sound more accurate in tuning, but it lost some of the character we have come to associate with a guitar. To me that translated to the guitar with the standard nut sounding warmer and fuller.

I did well at Christmas:

As part of:

I'd be hard-pressed to choose one over the other at the moment (so I'm glad I have both ;) ). The Tak 135 is crazy-sharp even wide-open; my wife won't let me post a photo I took of her, as you could, if so inclined, quite literally count every pore on the skin of her face. :p The 50-200 is lovely too, if perhaps not as redonkulously sharp.

Nice one. That's the same tripod (and head) I have. It works really well: pretty sturdy, and I've managed to get it into all sorts of arrangements/configurations.

I saw something online (could have been on PF) listing the various manufacturers that made these Soligors; I'm pretty sure Vivitar was one.

The latest thing that's arrived is tiny, but pleases me greatly: my Takumar Bayonet 28mm came with a Nikon lens cap, which has been bugging me mightily; I bought a better cap from eBay, one which also has a large PENTAX writ across it. Ahhhhh - much better. ;)

Latest purchase, awaited, is an SMC Takumar 135/3.5. Looking forward to that - but I'll have to get an M42 adaptor before I can use it.

My latest arrived monstrously quickly after an eBay purchase a few days back: Takumar Bayonet 28mm f/2.8. Apparently a cheapie lens (and indeed it was quite cheap), but already I absolutely love it.

Here's my first shot with it (inside, lowish light, quick snap):

First with 28 by -Occasionally Focused-

And this evening it's demonstrated rather sharply my snapped rose:

Keeled-over by -Occasionally Focused-

It came with a Nikon front cap (ewwwwwwww ;) ) and a rear cap that says KR - which worried me for a sec... after I had already put it on my camera. ;) I checked, and there's no Dreaded Ricoh Pin of Doom (shouldn't have been anyway; it's a Pentax lens).

I'm super happy with it. 8)

Something/s arrived for me today. And I have to say I'm impressed with C.R. Kennedy (official Pentax mob in Australia): wife emailed them a question on the weekend; they replied Monday morning; she ordered; shipped yesterday; arrived today. Tops. 8)

As to what it is, I'll find out at Christmas ;)

I'm betting the GPS astrotracer thing +/- M42 adaptor and AA battery adaptor. :)

That looks amusingly similar to the Jony Ive-designed Leica :p (which just sold for a million bucks or something)

New/Old Toy by -Occasionally Focused-

Nikon N2000 (film SLR) with Tokina 60-300. Really cheap ... free, actually. :D Now I have to consider playing around with film. Also about to order an adaptor to get that tele on my K-30. :)
