Stu:
As you well know I have been using Pentax for over 40 years. In those 40 years I have also bought Canon, and Nikon, and Olympus, I have used many very good cameras and I have always either, sold the other brands off, or returned them. I just like the way a Pentax always felt in my hand and I have always had great results from the camera. (The only bad results were my fault not the camera or manufacture.) So that said I have a question for you. Has Pentax served you well? If your answer is yes, then ask your self Do I like my camera? Do I need more than what I now have? what will the cost be to buy another system and what would happen if the camera later on was not supported.
Look my friend if you really want another system then go for it. BUT (and there is always a BUT) Ask your self Do I really want another DSLR (35mm type) How about this (and I think your ready for this) How about either a medium format the pentax 645NII or something in that range. How about going to Large format. I know large format is studio only. The medium format cameras have a good market and there are some very fine buys out there and some even digital. Yes the cost is greater. (BUT and heres another BUT) You can use a medium format in the same way you use your K10.
As you know I have two bodies one a DL and my new (thanks to ED Z from Pentaxforums .com) K100D. I really took a look at what I'm shooting and my needs when I was looking at the K10D I found, most of the offerings this camera had were really great, but I ask my self what do I really need. I got it with the K100D and the satisfaction of knowing I was right. As I am now thinking of a new camera purchase down the road I will step up into the medium format slot and I'm looking at, or for digital medium format. Or a coveted Pentax 67 with some great glass.
Think about it Stu, think very hard and long. Don't let others create your judgment, find out what is right for you. ;)
