I've posted plenty of images before, but the image post function wasn't working for me for some reason. First time I've had a problem.

How'd you do that? I tried the insert image function which has always worked for me before, but the image just wouldn't show up.

Edit: Figured it out

About a 2 minute exposure at f/22 on Portra 800. I took it with a nearly 100 year old Kodak Brownie No.3 box camera.

No, they're star trails. They probably look longer than the actually are because it's a heavy crop. The original picture was in portrait orientation, but I cropped horizontally from the middle of the image.

Precisely the reason I just yesterday ordered some ink for my printer and some high quality 13x19" paper. I can wait to see it, and some others, in the flesh.

It was over 14 days. I drove about 6000 miles in a meandering manner from Chicago to California so there was plenty to take pictures of. I had primarily planned it as a photo taking trip although the main goal was a move across the country.

Thanks everyone. I've developed 9 of the close to 60 rolls I shot on the trip, so I should have plenty more to post when I have the time/funds to get the rest developed.

Here's a shot from a roll processed at CVS(I think) that came out alright.

Here's one of my slide copier/bellows digitized negatives.
Either the negative was dirty or there are scratches on it from the aforementioned CVS problems. Also, I didn't have the bellows from the slide copier attached to the lens so there was some leaking light that messed up the edges. That said, for this only being the second time I've attempted the process, I'm pretty happy with the results. Now I know what to work on next time.
Slides digitized this way end up looking quite good, and it is really easy/quick.

Processing options are pretty slim around here. No Costcos around to try out, so drugstores are pretty much the only option.

The first few times I went to the drugstores around here there were no problems at all. The last few times though, nothing's gone right. The people at CVS can't figure out how to put photos on a CD without printing a set of prints too, which I think is the reason the negatives are coming back scratched. They handle them too much trying to get everything to work.

I don't mind the wait for Dwayne's. Most of the time I wait until I have 5 or more rolls finished before I get them developed so waiting another week is no big deal.

I've been experimenting using a slide copier/bellows to digitize negatives, and it works pretty well, but getting the colors right after reversing everything has proven tricky. When I get some more time I'll work out the setting for each film typr and save them for future ease. Or maybe I'll just get a scanner.

I've decided to give up on one hour labs too. The CVS I usually go to has been giving me back scratched negatives, and the Walgreens that's my backup seems to no have a light leak of some sort in their scanner. Every frame I've gotten back from Dwayne's on CD has been perfect, so all but the cheapest/least important rolls will go to them from no on.

I like Pentax lenses too, but I was leaving the FA* 85 at home too often because of its size, and pretty much out of nowhere, I decided I would sell it and try out the Leica. I'm glad now that I did. The Leica is pretty heavy, but also compact. The build and handling are great, as good as I've ever used, and it has a built-in hood that keeps it compact. It is essentially just what I was looking for in a short tele, wide aperture lens.

I sure did. I sold my FA* 85mm because it was just too large for my kit, which I'm trying to downsize. I got the Leica R 90/2 to replace it. I am slightly disappointed with it on digital, but so far on film it might replace the 31mm Ltd as my favorite lens. It compares favorably to the FA* 85mm on film too, in my opinion.

Pentax 50s really are great. if nothing else a Leica would offer something different, albeit at a much higher price thana Pentax 50/2.
