a wr hd 50 would be nice... internal focusing... less ca... a ff wide angle macro, extension tubes not from the 70's... 200mm reissue... anything that goes further than 1:1 would be nice.:D

the laowa lens length doesn't change... the front element retracts into the body of the lens at infinity, closer to the end of the lens body at 2:1. mine took a while to arrive... 4-5 days longer than someone i know who ordered it the same day.

the sigma 180, pentax 200, and laowa 100 are all internal focusing.
unscientific but pretty close distance from subject to front of lens at indicated 1:1
sigma 70mm: 6.35cm
laowa 100: 8cm
pentax dfa100: 13cm
irix 150: 17.5cm
sigma 180: 22.5cm
do with that what you will :p. in real world usage, they're very different!

the sigma 180 and irix 150 are both great... the irix is a bit more flare resistant. you don't loose as much contrast when pointed toward the sun as you do with the sigma. the irix is also shorter, so if you use a flash the lens doesn't get in the way as much.

without auto aperture, no reason to buy it over the 2:1 60mm they offer. with auto aperture, no reason not to buy it!

the 150 is way easier at 1:1 than the 180, i have both. it isn't any longer than the 100 at 1:1 since it's internal focusing, so easier to get light on the subject. i haven't has a chance to use both (150 and 180) against each other yet, but it's starting to warm up, so maybe over the next few weeks. i did rough measurements from the subject to the end of the lens a few weeks ago in another thread:
doing very quick unscientific measurements (i'll do better ones before too long). distance from end of lens to subject in focus at 1:1
pentax dfa 100mm 5"
irix 150mm 7" sigma 180mm 7.5"

i'd prefer not to shoot in the dark... the 60 doesn't even have an aperture lever, and 2:1 is pretty easy to get to with extension tubes.
if you want something longer, the irix 150 is great, and has auto aperture.
a 2:1 with auto aperture would be great, esp if it focuses to infinity! now if pentax would make the focus assist beam turn on with manual focus lenses, that would be even better. the newer cactus v6ii shoots a nice focus assist light (don't need a flashlight at night now) but it doesn't get triggered with mf lenses unfortunately.
