And it also "kicks in" earlier in the center than at the corners.
Basically add another stop to the corners before diffraction affects corner sharpness.
So taken as a whole, the diffraction limit "depends"...

Stopped down? Definitely. I have found the 35mm macro and the 21mm to be very good. Even the kit 50mm f/1.8 stopped down is more than capable. Wide open is another matter...
