Eagkerapids,
I really like to manual focus also. Sounds like a good idea to learn to stick with the first pop. Sure would save a lot of time and a lot less missed shots. You don't get a second try a lot of times.
Practice , Practice , Practice!

Thanks for the info guys,

jamonation,
I'm nearsighted also. Nikon eye piece ? What ever works is what I am looking for. How much did that run you if I can ask? That just slide on doesn't it?

Stratman,
Thanks , let me know how it works out for you. The magnifier doesn't cost near the Katzeye. This is an option I am surely looking at. The split screen they advertise on ebay is cheap enough that if it doesn't work out it won't be too bad. I was hoping someone had already tried them. Was looking for a guinea pig. ;)

Anyway, I was out today with my 85. Harsh light and showdows.

I was a wedding photographer for a second though.

Heres one for Mr. Cash

Just a quick question for you folks about focusing. What kind of focusing screens do you have? Sorry about the qestion being ask here but I am a new fan of these lenses and was wondering if anyone had any special technique they are using.
My eyes aren't the best and I usually have contacts in.

Should have some photos later today to post. Haven't been out with my 85 for a couple weeks :(

Finaly got a chance to get out with my new/old lens 85 1.8. I still need a lot of practice with this thing and maybe add a katzeye.

My son and granddaughter.

My first granddaughter.

She is such a posser!

The bokeh turned out a little strange in this one . Kind of distracting.

This is a sculpter my oldest brother worked on in Pocatello, ID. They just had the ceremony in July. A pretty big deal for him. He wasn't the creater but he was the chief assistant as the artist had a heart attack and could not do much of the work.

Nice shots Zewrak, but you really can't go wrong when you have such a beautiful little model like Amanda.
I love your " little girl blue " photos in your flickr collection.

BTW nice addition to your collection the auto 1.8 and looking forward to more examples.
I think I might pick up a 55 1.8 since they can be had for so little and produce so well to add to my growing collection.

Thats the one. I know its high but now I"m done. I've seen them go for close to that price and not be in near the condition.
Yes the 1.9 has to go now to make up part of it.
But as I stated it was this lens or the 77 limited so at least I saved a little there.

Taking about lensaholics. I just spent way too much on a 35 year old lens. Call me crazy but it was getting the SMC Takumar 85mm 1.8 over the 77 limited. I've been jonesing for this lens for too long. Found one in mint condition! Now I just have to wait on the shipping.

Heres another one from my Super 85 1.9. I'm not sure if I like the bokeh on this one.

I don't recall ever seeing a wasp this color. Looks like a Yellow Jacket but its blue.

I've been anxiously waiting to add my contribution. Just got the Super Tak 85mm 1.9 non SMC.
I missed out on a nice 1.8 but I am still looking.
Anyway, the DOF shot first. Shot wide open.

Next, a little scenery.

And last, a candid.

What am I doing wrong when I get skin tone like this in the candid?

Just trying to figure out the new lens, but so far I really like it. I get in a bit of a hurry when I shoot the candids so I don't upset anyone. Once I figure it out and get a little faster..
I also just purchased a Tamron 28-75 for portrait /multi-purpose.

I'm a happy camper right now:D

Edit:
I forgot to add that what everyone says about the focus being smooth on these lenses is so right, love it!

So is this genuine m42?
It doesn't say asahi on it but it does look like an original package. Found is at a local store.

Thanks Stratman, since I bought my K 50 f/ 1:1.2 I have fallen in love. M and AV are pretty srtaight forward.
I have heard some good things about the super taks ( the photos are the proof ) and you can't beat the price.
I have my eye on a couple lenses.
Thanks for the link. I think I will go that way so I know what I have.

So I have been doing a little research on the adapters trying to find a genuine one. I am hearing some not so good stuff about adapters ( third party ) getting stuck on the camera and such.
Also, something about having to open the aperture manually or only being able to use lenses wide open because of a disabled pin or something.

I guess my question is, what are the concerns when useing one of these lenses? I was thinking I would be able to use it technically like a K or M series lens. Is that ture?

Thanks

Nice shot fearview, wish I could see larger size to check out the bokeh.

I have a question about the Tak 85's. I see they get a pretty good review in the lens data base. Anyone have more shots taken with this lens. 85 f/ 1.8 or 1.9 ? Any info would be great.

Thanks a bunch!

I have an adapter coming in the mail. Thought I would try it since I've seen so many great shots done with these lenses. I didn't check if it has the flange or not so I am keeping my fingers crossed.

Anyway, I think the super tak 50 1.4 will be the first one I get. Is there a certain serial number that I should look for or any thing else when choosing one of these lenses?

Any recomendations?
