Every day when I was working on finishing the very final stages of my PhD thesis (the writeup), I used to begin every day listening to this song: You Tube |

It's called "Du Li" by Taiwainese one-hit wonders Michelle and Vickie. "Du Li" () means "independence" and even though I can't understand the lyrics, my wife told me what they mean and I think it's a song of strength. Obviously, the personal meaning to "Independence" was something I was thinking about a lot at the time; I did not have a particularly satisfying academic experience with my adviser and was counting the days until I'd be out with a real job, free from the prison that is the ivory tower.
Anyway, I think it's a really beautiful song that everyone can enjoy even if you don't know what it means. :)
Anyone else have songs they listen before a particular task to get them going? I need to get one to start each day of work in the car...I'm thinking like "Ante Up" by MOP. That always get the blood pumping!

Not sure if you guys are into international music, but I recently accidentally stumbled onto a Korean girl group called Brown Eyed Girls. It's silly pop, but I'm totally addicted to it at the moment. You Tube |

It's got some Lady Gaga-esque bounce to it that really stirs up energy!
