Your skill of creating HDR and pseudo HDR shots are one of the best Mike.. I always enjoy your works especially on the abandoned buildings.

The goldfinch shot is awesome, share the same feeling about JT sold her siggy
Keep 'em coming please.. :)
What camera do you use? I experience the same since I use K5, never happened before with my K20D (or maybe the lighting situation is different- not know for sure).. disturbing flare constantly mess my night shots.

This kind a weird, those spots won't go away.. and I never seen those spots before. I wonder whether long exposure shots I made makes the sensor hot and surfaced the spots ( I'm too afraid to call them stains )
I'll bring my K5 to professional to identify the problem.. though I already prepare my faint heart for the worst scenario.:o

Yes, I should've known shooting at broad daylight and the aperture set at f 22 all the dust and dirt will be very visible. Obviously I have a very dirty 10-20 :o

The copper statue is picturing Lord Wisnu, in Hindu he's one form of God who governs the aspect of preservation and sustenance of the universe, so he is called 'Preserver of the universe'.
This statue is a main part of the ambitious project in Bali named Garuda Wisnu Kencana, The main idea is creating a 150 meters tall statue of Wisnu riding on the back of the mythical bird Garuda -which has wings span 64 meters across- on 240 hectares cultural park.

How far would welding glass affect the IQ (in terms of sharpness and color cast)? do you have the link to someone who has used it? Welding glass seems worth to try since I know I won't be using 10 stops ND quite often to buy an expensive one (and mainly because I'm cheap LOL). Talking about cheap I once own a ND fader filter (adjustable 2 stops to 10 stops ND) costs me $70 but get rid of it since it creates X mark on FL wider than 18mm.. turns out it's not cheap at all :(
That cross my mind too.. after in-cam HDR I guess ND or GradND feature will wow many people. Rather than changing sensor design dramatically I was thinking about adding some mechanism inside the cam which at certain time block part of the sensor (something like using the black card technique) or maybe they put a -high quality- thin film layer to block the light.
But think again maybe Pentax should use sensor which has DR equivalent or better than human eyes
Woww.. Sunflower with love. Nice PP.. or is it real? :o
I tried many times to imitate your HDR shots.. none of them successful :(

Love all your shots Falke.. have you used another Grad ND filter like Hi Tech, Cokin or the el cheapo Tian Ya?
Filter frenzy.. the 10 stop ND filter is on top of my wish list, but can't find around here sold at a reasonable price :(
Love this one now..:)

With this lens, street photography is a real challenge (the distortion and proximity).. I have to try it sometime. I wonder how you did that shot, the family pic looks very in focus..excellent
Thanks Designosophy.. this lens is my first pick every time I go hunting and imo the creativity with this lens is nearly limitless. Hope we can share thoughts and ideas here, and I really appreciate every critic and input to take this lens to its full potent.

An early morning @ Sanur Bali.. the clouds was too thick it blocked the sunrise.
13 secs exposure f9 11mm tripod
I was on my way home when the sky finally start to clear out, back to the beach and put the CPL on to get the sky's reflection on the wet sands.

It's a good pic.. very tricky to use 10mm to this kind of subject, the fireworks will look much smaller and less appealing.
I never see an UWA lens that works fine with internal flash.. jstevewhite has solved the problem :)

the composition is the key.. at certain angle toward sun this lens creates flare which more like hot spot in picture -same like its brother 8-16-
Mind to start it (before and after comparison shots)?
Love the shots..
The first one seems like a great place to explore this lens.. prefer at blue/golden hours.
Yes you're right.. at 10mm the great mountain will look much smaller. Nice pic

I never try HDR since I think Pentax DR in RAW mode quite impressive especially K5.. but looking @ HDR shots here I feel like I have to try it sometime
I think any AF lens with K mount will focus on your Kr ( I have a Kx and Sigma 10-20 focus just fine with it), regarding IQ etc why don't you look around in this lens club forum, there's DA 12-24 club too I think, look there and decide what lens suit you best ( I assume you have been here quite a while).
Nice.. love the sun ray
The vibrant pic @ no1 rocks.. keep 'em coming

Yes you're right.. even without polarizer the colors pop out just fine. Love the HDR on the second shot, it's a very smooth HDR.. how many shots did you take?
Welcome Francis.. looking forward to see your first shot with this gem here :)

Thanks JT.. :)
Actually I use CPL on this shot to reduce excessive reflection of the water surface, this lens + K20D RAW performs very well I can easily bring out the detail of the shadow part (the trees) on LR and maintain the actual colors.

Errr... I don't know how to PP out the vignetting in Lightroom and most of my shots with this lens are cropped slightly to straighten the horizon. Honestly I don't know much about Vignette and CPL filters , but afaik thicker (and cheaper) filter produce more vignetting with this lens.
Internet connection is suck here so I post smaller size pics. at this size do you see vignette in this picture JT? I use CPL and boost the fill light in Lightroom. |
