Took the K3 and 18-135 lens to Palacios. Was on rock pier when a big wave splashed me and the camera. My aunt said, "Oh no, Oh no!". I smiled and patted it off with a small towel, "It's ok, all good" lol. Had to use lens cleaner and microfiber for lens, that was the greasiest sea water ever.

The look of disbelief, the amazed amusement, (like seeing an Ivory Billed Woodpecker) at first he thought I had film, and a backpack of vintage gear to go with the camera like I broke into the Smithsonian or something ( or EBay), and and and being used by ..... a girl..... Aghhhhh. It was a fun day.

At the Formula 1 there were a lot of DSLR camera owners, all men, All Canikonys. After a while I moved to a spot for a different vantage point which was beside a few of these guys and one happened to look at my gear and said.... "Pentax? I didn't even know any of those existed any more!"
I said "Really? Because this one is only a little over a yr old." I told them that was ok if that was what people thought since that meant my gear was safer than everyone else's. If anything I managed to amuse and confuse a bunch of older guys...
;)

Yall were on a roll, I wowed everyone with a yellow Q7 with an adapter and 18- 55 kit lens. No one had seen that before. Of course it was the usual ???'s on the K3's. Went on a night shoot at a bronze foundry. Everyone was really nice.

I found it interesting that while others were searching menus on their DSLR's I had no problem at all except .... Interval shooting. Never used it, oh my couldn't find it... Eeeek.... Oh well I could shoot without it. Found it the next day changing the 2 sec timer. Duh! I did what the others did, searched through the menu, Pentax put it in such an easy convenient spot I didn't even look there. With the exception of the pure ignorance on my part the Pentax menu just makes sense to me and is easy. I found all my settings in seconds, no one else did. So this is a big Thank You to the Forum.... A thank you for all the info and help that made me learn my equipment.

This week at Photography workshops. I seen canon point and shoots (not supposed to have been brought. ) was supposed to be at a class for those who knew their own camera for a course to learn lighting. Well .... Not what happened. Poor lady next to me..... "...Excuse me... What's an I..S...O?... Is that on my camera? Where?.... P&S is on 'A' setting ??? This was most of the students except me, One whole hour on that stuff.... Noooooooo! Wasn't really the instructors fault but sheesh He coulda gave me a discount to help him to 'fix' camera settings... During the two workshops I seen 3 Canons, 4 Nikons, 3 Pentax (all mine), and one LUMIX.

Lol.... This quote...
"Pentax have their fans but sadly they're using decades old technology, they have their fans and if you like that kind of thing then by all means use them, they have a single role, they're lens mount goes back to the days of your grandmother's first menstrual cycle so if you've a box of 'K' mount lenses they're not to be dismissed."

As a grandmother and the owner of a menstrual cycle ( it's a Harley) ha ha ... I also have Pentax and K Mount lenses oh oh oh and they are NEW ones, and old ones.... Each one in's own lens case stored neatly in a padded camera bag, oh sheesh certainly not in a box. Lol, I am still laughing at this comment. Ha ha ha TMI

I took the K3 and K3II and a tripod to my booth at the local farmers market, placed the camera next to some of my prints, sold some prints, people were fascinated with the Pentax Cameras. Later I planned to photograph the gargoyles on the courthouse building that was behind my booth. As I did so two guys also walked up to photograph the courthouse. They had some serious looking gear with them. Lol, they did a 'shark circle' to investigate what I was doing but did not walk up and ask. I could see they were using at least 300mm lenses and one of the large cameras which I am suspecting was a canon had the grip attatched. I seen a lot of DSLR's that day. One lady seen the cameras and ask me for lens advise, ask me about the cameras and then I gave her the forum website. I think she has a Sony.

I would look like 54 yr old lady with no makeup, no perfume, caring a camera bag or backpack instead of anything purse like. They would have to figure out the forum t-shirt.... As far as gear, I want all of it with me but it's just not practical if I bring the 35mm I always wish I had the 500mm. Why is that? But I am always a satisfied K-3 user group of One. I tried to use a Nikon D3200 two days ago I got lost on the menu panel.

I had to ask since if I was talking to a workmate or new acquaintance and they told me they also had a K3, first I'd have to pick my jaw up off the floor. Then I might have a round of giddiness for the moment at having met another Pentax user in person. So far, I have not met one yet, it would be interesting... Someday... Someday. :D Should I admit that pale green is my favorite color? :D

Had to google the Edixa camera had not heard of it, very interesting. Which reminds me that I was supposed to iPhone a photo of a vintage lens with an aperture ring so she can see the f/stops on it.

One funny incident during the session was when I popped her on camera flash up and my aunt replied, "Now how do you get it to flip up like that and flash when you want it too?" I pushed the flash back down and told her to press the little button with the 'lightning' insignia. She was quite happy when the flash popped up on command finally. I suppose we are both learning something, if I ever have to use or teach another Nikon I will know a bit of something.

Had to laugh on this. Me with my K3 am teaching my aunt from Arkansas how to use her Nikon D3200. I have never used a Nikon aside from picking up her camera and shooting pics of her with it. I downloaded the manual for it onto my phone in iBooks (since her phone doesn't have the storage capacity) . Whenever she visits we go on shooting sessions and I am helping her learn her camera controls now. Yay, I showed her how to take it off auto and put it in manual. When she came for another session I seen that she had put it back into manual and had been using it that way although only on the exact settings we used the last time. Showed her how to change aperture settings this time. Lol, she is determined. Helped her find which AF long lens she needed to. So far it's going good. Hey, I'm learning a big brand now? Lol

Lol,decided to wear black forum T-shirt to state park, had K3 on tripod with sigma 18-250 aimed at curly tree bark and a lady lady walked by and said "Nice day, Wow nice camera and nice lens, guess that's why they pay you the big bucks!" I told her "Nah, I was just out for the fun of of it. " She asked what brand the camera and lens was. I showed her it was a newer Pentax DSLR paired with a sigma lens. She said she remembered the Pentax K1000 film cameras and proceeded to ogle the Pentax DSLR some more.

Funny his name comes up, I tried to put some of his advise on stabilizing the camera to use yesterday day as I got stuck with the 500mm and no tripod. Every available tree limb etc was either too tall facing wrong direction or centered in a giant pile of brush. Ugh, as I had been having some breathing problems I was just to shaky to stabilize it very well on my own that day.... And I was thinking that for sure Heie wouldn't have this problem. 😏 Ahh yes and what caused the breathing problem? Cedar? Nope.. Pollen.. Pine?....Nope... Flea spray...nope... A friends new perfume?.... Yip!

I had the K3 with the 500mm sigma at the river a couple of weeks ago. After a while a Canikon DSL user walked over to the spot I had the camera set up on a tripod and started talking to me, wandering lol, or really "wondering" over close enough to see the Pentax logo. So he says "Oh, Pentax?" "Your using an old camera." At which I told him "No it's digital, the camera is maybe almost 2 yrs old, I bought it new." Then he got that 'blank' look momentarily. After a bit more camera tech conversation he mentioned that he used to use his camera professionally but now enjoyed photographing whatever he wanted. We had a nice conversation but as he was leaving and walking back to his vehicle I overheard him say to himself..... "I think I've just been outgunned!"
